Hi, everyone: I love the Trading Card Database and would enjoy knowing why folks originally came here. Did you come to catalogue your collection or were you looking for a place to trade? Or both?
I got back into card collecting this past summer after a long, long layoff. The pandemic kept me at home more than in the past and at loose ends. So, I dragged out my old card collection with the intention of cataloguing it to either keep or sell. In the process, I fell in love with cards again and decided emphatically that I not only wanted to keep my cards but add to my collection.
First, I needed a basic checklist. I figured there had to be somewhere online where I could store my checklist and have a record of everything I had. TCDB actually isn't the first site I tried. There is another one that I looked at, but it didn't have nearly as many cards listed as this one. Some cards in my collection are a little obscure, and after about an hour, I saw I had plenty of cards that site didn't list.
So, I came here to catalogue. Didn't think at all about trading, which I do now. Or participating in forums, which I do occasionally. Or actively helping with the site, which I've done through adding scanned images of cards or noticing errors. Thank you to experienced members who have encouraged and advised along the way. I visit regularly now for trading, forums, to help, and to get help.
But, I came here originally to catalogue. What about you?
I love to trade! Check the top couple of paragraphs of my profile to see my general trading desires. If you're uncertain if I’ll take a certain trade, message me and we can figure out something.
