Hello everybody. I haven't logged in a while, but I am lucky enough to still exist. Had to stop trading because of pandemic complicitions and the bizarre situation of not receiving my mail. I trade a lot and never had a problem. Then all of sudden summer/fall of last year I stopped receiving my end of trades. In more than half of my trades, I wasn't receiving my cards. Most of these were reliable traders so I know the cards were being sent. I didn't get them. USPS problems? Someone stealing my mail? I don't know. But it was reality. Anyhow, I'm still in the hobby, big time, more than ever. I will likely be moving in a few months and will try to restart the trading then. Thanks to all my trading partners for all the trades over the years. Hoping they're will be more soon!

Welcome back. You've missed a lot of insanity in the hobby, so it might have been the perfect time to NOT be on here daily.

Yea, I heard a little about it. Sounds like speculators, investors, and flippers just chasing "hits" like crazy. I don't know how to feel about it. On the one hand I guess they're pumping massive amounts of money into the hobby so maybe it will keep card companies going. On the other hand the flippers ony seem to care about hits and throw out the base. I'm primarly interested in the base. I just dread the thought of a hobby with only rediculously priced "hits" and no base, or all cards of prospects 90% of which never last in MLB.

Ditto! This is the early 90's cards taken to an extreme level. Everybody chasing the chase cards instead of actually collecting any of the cards. There have been several threads about the hobby over the past few months reflecting on exacting that. Watch this happen over time... the 2020 and 2021 base cards will become the most valuable cards because all these idiot "flippers, investors and speculators" threw them away as they chased the SN'd cards or the AU's or the MEM's.
Your last few words exactly describe why I stopped buying Bowman products in about 2008. 90% of the "selling point" for that brand was going to be garbage in less than a year or two. Bowman products tend to mostly be more garbage than useful history of the sport and very few cards have any value after a couple of years. On top of that, very few people sit on the RC's from that brand for several years waiting for them to do something to make the card valuable again. Everything about this hobby has become "NOW, NOW, NOW!!!". Only set collectors hold on to obscure RC's these days and the hobby is constantly forcing everyone away from wanting to collect sets with the ridiculous number of parallels and inserts in every single product now.

I love hearing why we love the USPS and how well they are when we are smiling anything. I mail almost daily for my job and really hope people are getting the mail.

As the great very under-appreciated AC/DC tune says:
Back in Business!!!
(from 1985 album: Fly on the Wall).
Just completed beautiful trades with Tscastle & rabinfw. First trades in almost a year!
