Not much important for most of our trades, but I've received that email today.

New prices for Canada Post parcel services, surcharges and prepaid envelopes are coming in September 2021 and January 2022.

Parcel services price changes

Canada Post is moving the timing of its annual parcel services price changes. Beginning this year, new rates for Domestic, USA and International parcel services will launch annually in September instead of January. These changes will take effect for our commercial customers on September 13, 2021, but they will be delayed for our Canada Post Solutions for Small Business™ customers until January 10, 2022.

Price changes

Here is a summary of the price changes that will come into effect for your business in January:

•	The weighted average price for Domestic parcels will increase by 3.5 per cent.

•	The weighted average price for USA/International will increase by 2.8 per cent.

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause you and appreciate your patience and understanding. We have worked to ensure any new prices remain competitive and are consistent with past years' adjustments.

The new price sheets will be available to view on your Canada Post online business account in August. Please remember that these price changes will be delayed for small businesses like yours until January 10, 2022.

Changes to surcharges and prepaid envelopes

In September 2021, there will be changes to surcharges and the cost of prepaid envelopes for all customers.

Surcharge and rate changes

Effective September 13, 2021, the following changes will come into effect:

•	Oversize/Unpackaged will increase from $15 to $18.

•	Out-of-spec will increase from $200 to $300.

•	Rates on prepaid envelopes will increase.

Between November 1, 2021 and January 16, 2022, the following peak season surcharge changes will come into effect:

•	The existing surcharge for Oversize/Unpackaged items will be adjusted to $25 from $18.

•	The existing surcharge for items that exceed Canada Post's specifications for size and weight will be adjusted to $400 from $300.
