Well, I did it. At the early onset of COVID, I set out to get more organized with my collecting (instead of just acquiring), which is what largely brought me to this site. At the time, I listed a good portion of my collection on the site to help with organization and cataloging. Made a few trades here and there. However, there was plenty more work to do.
A couple of months ago, I decided it was well past time to finish getting organized. I turned off trades, and got to work. Fast forward to today... after far too many hours of grinding away, I have listed the entirety of my collection (except a couple of "bulk" boxes in my garage that I'm not planning to itemize). Yep, (practically) every single card in my possession is listed on the site. (I probably catalogued +/- 50K cards into my collection.)
Boy, does it feel great to be done with THAT and ready to get back to making some trades!
As I went through everything, I had quite a few fun thoughts, moments of clarity, and discoveries. (I thought about keeping a log of some of the fun thoughts/comments (including plenty of dad jokes) I had along the way, but alas I never did.) I did, however, quite enjoy discovering cards that I didn't even realize that I had... short prints, SN'd cards, random cards that didn't have scans on the site yet... fun stuff like that. (If you want to see a fun one, check out the back of the 1998 Skybox EX2001 Robin Ventura (#66) and its unfortunate accidental(?) vulgar design.)
For those of you who need to get your collection organized, for what it's worth, you're in the right place in my opinion. It just takes time and patience... get going and don't let off the gas until you're done. It's worth it when it's done.
As far as for me, it's time to get back to trading.
