There were two guys at the Dallas card show and each one of them had a slabbed Dak Prescott 2016 Prizm autographed card serial numbered 5/10.

The Sports Card Investor guy put up a video and interviewed the owners. He interviewed another guy who had several Prizm serial numbered Dak Prescott cards without the autographs on them.

It seems likely that stories like this will increase as the Fanatics era gets closer. Hopefully not though.

Why would there be more of this with the Fanatics deal approaching? Do you mean, in the interim while Topps and Panini scramble to make as much $$$ as they can before hand, or afterwards because their quality control is not expected to be good?

I'd imagine some employees will start making some unfortunate decisions as the end of the road draws near. And the companies on the short end of the stick might stop caring since they'll be done and just redeem cards with the same serial or whatever. Stuff will be going out the back door and no one will care.
