What would you say is your favorite storage box size to use? I ask because all of my cards are in 3200 count boxes. I am thinking about separating some of my cards from the others since I don't look at them as often as I would like. I would be putting All Stars, Hall of Famers, and cards of the teams I am a fan of together in their own boxes. So that way I would have my collection I would look through more often, and then all the other cards still in the 3200 count boxes. I am trying to figure out what box size I should use if I end up doing this. I don't want to use 3200 count boxes for these, as they can get heavy and they are not very easy for just grabbing and looking through the cards.
I am thinking about 800 count boxes, but I am wondering if even those might not be the easiest to grab and look through.

I have 2 sizes. I uses 800ct for all my sets and 5K boxes for everything else (inserts, PC, traders, etc.). Only other box size I have is, literally, a shoe box. Having bix feet means I have a larger enough shoebox that easily and snuggly fits 5x7 sized cards. All my 5x7 and smaller oversized cards (yes, I know what I just said :)) are in that shoebox.
I think you'll still be able to get away with using 3200 for both desires. They are good boxes for long-term storage, stacking them and stashing them whereever. At the same time they are great for easy access for constent use. The 5K's that are use are not lidded. I keep the cover off as those are the ones I consistently access as I add or takeaway from them. I have the insert/PC ones mostly on shelves so I can just get into them easily enough. Also much easier for me to have dividers up that segregates everything. To me 800ct may work for grab-and-go if you have a good system in place to remind you what is where and aren't worrying about moving things around again if you run out of space in a box.

I guess if I just keep using the 3200 boxes, I won't need to purcahse any new ones. Just need to reorganize them. On a related note, how many 3200 boxes have you stacked on top of each other. I have mine in plastic bins right now that can fit 3 stacked on top of each other. The 3rd boxes are not full in either of my 2 bins, but I sometimes worry if there is too much weight on the bottom box.

I use the different box sizes for different things. Of course I have 1 box you can put graded cards into and 1 box you can put 1 touches into, but I do not really count those.
3 row box: these can fit cards with top-loaders and I use these boxes for my TCDB trade inventory, both what has been added to my trade list and what is pending. Currently have 2 boxes for added inventory and 1 box for pending. These cards are inserts and sleeved but waiting for toploaders. Non-inserts do not get toploaders.
4 row box: This is what I have my baseball collection in. These baseball cards are those are I am not currently collecting as my collection goes into binders. But I add players or change teams/what I collection semi-frequently and I go through these when I need to. I think there are close to 70 of these and I could use a few more.
5 row box: These are for cards that will eventually become traders but haven't been sleeved yet. I just added my 3rd of this type of box.
All of my 800ct and smaller boxes have cards that I do not want but are not good enough for traders. Sometimes I take bonus cards out of these and send with trades, or give them to friends. I may donate these to somewhere soon since there are maybe 30 of them and I want them gone. Often I will break down the empty boxes and give them to a flea market vendor.

Any size I can pickup with one hand.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I mostly use 800 count boxes for my sets but I have several smaller boxes for smaller sets. For the randoms that aren't enough to consider a set I have some plastic 2000 count boxes I picked up years ago at Target or Walmart that work great. I have one of those for each brand.
For trades, I have a a 3200 count box and a couple 1600 boxes. I'm considering picking up another 3200 box since I have way too many doubles I haven't had space to list yet.

I am liking the 2 row 1600 ct boxes more and more past few years.
I would suggest you get a few 800 ct boxes, and a few 1600 ct, and use those for your special projects/special collecctios and you will see what works best for you.
One of the things I like most about the 1600ct boxes is that the card are stored standing up instead of facing sideways...but that is just me..I think the 1600ct boxes have more room in them to store card that are in top loaders as well (which don't work well with 800ct boxes)

I use just about every kind of box they make, but my favorite and the one I use for a lot of my player collections is the 3 slot super shoe box. It holds top loaders perfectly.

My favorite storage box was made by my uncle (RIP) in 1990 when he came to Texas to visit. Made out of solid wood 4 rows long and about 3 foot long. My other storage boxes is a cedar wooden box that held cast iron skillets and pots and pans and my vintage storage box (which I lost to my youngest daughter) was my moms hope chest. These boxes hold my gameused, autos , gameused/ autos and my HOF rookie cards and my vintage cards 1979 all the back to 1887 and my high end cards
