For those you who have started trading with me, and those who've declined trade offers and explained why, THANK YOU!
I'm new to this site and the community has taught me a ton that I wish I would have known on during my early trades (sorry to those of you who dealt with me early on - I'm learning).
So for other newbies... here are some lessons that I've learned.
1) Be honest about your cards. Some people here are being very thoughtful about the sets they are building. If they ask about condition of the cards, that's okay. Respect it, offer pictures. We are all here to enjoy our hobby, so respect where a person is coming from.
2) Packaging... boy, I've learned a ton in a few weeks. The US Postal service can't be trusted. I've learned to cut my 3x3 sheets into thirds that way they'll fit into a regular envelope and the cards won't get damaged. Especially when you protect them with cardboard. To those of you who took my first trades - I'm sorry I didn't figure it out sooner.
3) Be generous to kids. A few people have thrown cards into packages that my son is collecting. He gets excited every time I do a trade for him and there is an extra card. I know I'm going to start doing this. Let's keep the next generation excited about collecting.
And, finally have fun with it. We are all in the hobby for different reasons. I'm not a stickler on condition, just trying to pick up card from teams/players that interest me. Others are trying to build out high quality sets. It's all good and a great way for us to distract ourselves from everyday life.
Thanks for welcoming me to the community.
