1. A few weeks ago I decided to try the Sportslots "box orders," and I received my first box a few days ago. It was a postive experience and I'd definitely do it again. It was interesting how different sellers package the cards they send out. Many were great, but way too many still use scotch tape, and worse, wrapping it up in packing tape. Whoever thought packing tape was a good idea to secure cards was mistaken. I wish Sportslots could send out a notice to all their sellers to use painters tape. Maybe I'll suggest it to them.
2. It's really hard to be a Twins fan right now. They finally have a great pitching staff, but now they can't hit. It's either a strike out (on a pace to set the MLB record), or a home run. Twins management, it's time to make a few changes.
3. I saw this on Facebook today. On this day in 2005, Twins 27 year old rookie Glenn Williams connected for a hit in his 13th straight game to start his career, but was injured in the game and never played in the majors again. He ended his MLB career hitting in every game he played in and had a career .425 batting average. Sadly, he never had a MLB baseball card in a Twins uniform. I wish he did.
4. Have a great day and happy collecting.

Tough being a Yankees fan this year?? Yeah, it’s tough when your team is 8 games over .500 before the All-Star break and you’re #3 (or #4) starter just threw a perfect game.

Yank fans expect to have a .666 or better win percentage, anything less is unacceptable. And yeah, pitcher has been having a crap year, then throws a perfect game. Well, was against the A's.

1. I really get annoyed with all the tape use. I especially am annoyed at the use of "card savers" and tape used. Even PWEs that not onlyl have the back opening/flap completely taped but the whole envelope wrapped in clear mailing tape drive me nutty. You have to use scissors or a knife to open the thing up and hope you don't damage any cards that might be near the edge you are opening.
If tape is to be used the best is painter's tape, not masking tape. Even sometimes painters tape is bad news. I recently had a card arrrive in a PWE in a "card saver" witht he opening taped with painters tape. Even though it had painters tape the card had managed to slip in the "saver" and the top was sticking to the tape. I was my usual careful self with the tape but it still managed to nick the card's top edge with an ugly bit of paper loss.

Interesting tidbit on Glenn Williams. I enjoy random trivia like that.

Yeah, some people think they're keeping a mad gorilla from escaping instead of a piece of cardboard.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Incredible note on #3, no recollection of him sadly (not surprisingly) but that is fascinating trivia. Yeah, the tape issue drives me nuts. I don’t care about a little tape, I don’t care if someone tapes a top loader or whatever they put it in (don’t get me started on folks who complain about not getting a shiny new top loader) but the guys who laminate the entire envelope in packing tape are psychopaths.

Agree on the card saver w/tape. I received a card saver one time with a piece of paper covering the opening and the paper taped to the card saver-I’ve been packaging like that ever since. Takes an extra minute, but way better than a nick or worse yet part of the back completely torn off by the tape.

Cmon Its really not that difficult to send cards securely In PWE and for the price of a Stamp I really do not see the problem here. I use very little tape (Painters Tape) to me seems the safest. Small strips works well please we are talking cardboard so huge pieces of different types of sticky tape does not work well. I wish I could do a tutorial on this I think It can be helpful. Frank
