The Athletic published a story about the contents of the federal affidavit released on Ohtani's interpreter Ippei Mizuhara. The story briefly mentioned that Ippei would have packages of cards send to the Dodger clubhouse, and that he had spent $325K on ebay and Whatnot to purchase cards. They were cards of Ohtani, Soto and Yogi Berra, and were purchased with the intent to resell.
Now I would assume a person with a gambling problem would be buying into breaks, not singles

I don't know but if someone stole $16 million from me, I think I would notice it no matter how much money I had.

I tend to agree with you because we would be considered poor to Ohtani status. 16 million with 700 million plus endorsements be a little hard for a single person. Just like large companies where there own employees embezzled millions as well. I can think of one company off the top of my head Patterson Drilling where one person embezzled millions from the company as well.
when dealing with this kind of money you need checks and balances where neither party knows each other to scheme you personally or company.
what is my opinion I am on the teeter totter and the right wind will shove me to one side or the other. He will definitely be watched under a microscope from now on. If he has a gambling problem it will show up in due time if he does not have a gambling problem this will be the end of it and he is innocent

Very interesting read. Based on the affidavit, Ohtani had no involvement in any gambling, nor any knowledge he was being embezzled by Mizuhara.

The threat of approaching Ohtani while walking his dog is unsettling. Who knows how that would of went down. Especially with no interpreter present.

Where was Shohei's wife throughout this? Most (like mine) you would have to explain why there's $50 missing from your bank account, never mind $500K.
