Thanks to all for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Just as ranfordfan said, my wife is supportive but doesn't exactly see the excitement I do. What a great hobby we have! Just reading these comments, and the comments on other forums, our hobby is so unique. Some, like myself, collect one team. (herkojerko with over 17000 Phillies is fantastic). Others collect one player. (Suomibear8 with over 1600 Selanne cards is amazing -- my most if about 920 Pucketts). Some collect complete sets. Some collect non-sport cards. Some collect a card from every set. Yet, we are all brought together here. This site is the 1st thing I check in the morning when I get up, and the last think I check at night before I turn in.
By the way, in answer to vroomed's question, I also store mine in albums, now at 31! I have them in team sets and each set is labeled in the album (I use a 2x3" plain card and write on it the year, set, etc. and place it in the album before the set). I also have all my team sets inventoried on a spreadsheet. In 1996, I started using a different album for every year. Before that, I would have Topps in one Album, Fleer in another, etc. I also have special albums for oddball cards, oversized cards, team issues, and miscellaneous. It is thanks to this site that I am able to organize things finally. I also have several (probably a couple hundred or more) cards that I don't have the rest of the cards for the team set. They are kind of here and there right now! Anyway, thanks again for the kind words and happy collecing to all!!
