I'm looking at it, and it seems easy enough. Seller assumes storage of cards (unlike comc) and sets shipping guidelines? no fee to sell unless you request payment, but if you request site credit you can keep it all? Am I missing some glaring roadblock or restriction?

I sell a little on there (very little listed, very little sells), and the only thing you have incorrect is fees.
They charge you fees for selling. Based on volume. You sell a lot, your percentage to them goes down. You sell one card here and there, they take a lot. I use the money I get there on more stuff there, and I am charged fees for selling. I think there is an additional fee if you don't wish to use the money there and have it put into your Paypal (or get a check).

I agree with what vroomed said. I only sell a little here and there and the fees are high if just selling a card here and there. You pretty much have to make your money off of the postage you charge which is sad to say. Most buyers choose the cheaper option (pwe) so you can price that to make a few pennies if someone buys a couple of commons which seems to happen a lot. Seems like a lot lot of pwe's don't make it as compared to dealing with people here. I'm sure I've given away a few cards on there that someone has added to their collection. Also, the store credit you reference has the same fees as requesting payment. They just act as a piggybank after the usual fees are applied. Personally I'd rather trade here.

I finally found the sellers fees (not the most transparent, but oh well). It's another thought for moving cards when I have exhausted the trade market here, so I think I will use them. Probable routine will be add them here, research my trading partners myself while others hopefully also get match alerts as I add them, then after a few months offer them up as a Last Chance item (as I've done with soccer, golf, and non sports so far); then whatever isn't claimed can go to sportlots for a few months or comc if it is a better card; then just donate whatever is left to goodwill or volunteers of America, or to my local children's hospital (especially for local teams).
Typing it all out so I can see what it looks like out of my head. Seems to be a decent strategy, hopefully my wife lets me keep some commons for a bit longer before donating them!

You'd be surprised selling on Sportlots, you'll sell cards you never thought anyone would want. But it's definitely a saturated market. Unless you have quantity or unique inventory it might be difficult to meet the selling levels to qualify for cheaper fees. But a few extra bucks every month off of cards you don't want never hurts.

I wouldn't mind the fees since it's after things sell, and not up front. Even if I only sell one card, at 18c, I still keep 4.5c after the fee, and most of what I have listed here is 5c anyway. And as you say, the more you sell, the bigger percentage you get to keep. The more I'm looking at it, the more I'm intrigued, but I know you'd have to be really patient to see a lot of stuff get moved. Fortunately with five kids I've been able to develop a lot of patience!

I pulled up this thread instead of starting a new one, since it ties into my question. I know some members on this site have accounts on Sportlots.
Is shaner18 (Sportlots name) a member here?
I buy a fair amount of cards from that site, but I don't think I've purchased anything from shaner18. For some reason I think I remember seeing that name on someone's profile. No problems, no issues just thought I'd ask. I found a lot of cards in his "store" and thought I'd ask before checking out.
Thanks!

there also is an auction area. it has been a long time since I have looked at the fee structure for that, but auctions may be a way to 'dip your toe in the water' on a more limited basis..

I have purchased cards from him. He has a few that I need now. I had his information until my contact list crashed and burn.

Another point if you want more consideration from buyers is setting your shipping rates reasonnable. Some guys on SL definitely try to make up on costs there, but it is one of the main points where you can score a sale or not. Let's say 20 sellers have the same card at minimum 18¢, but you charge actual (or about) postage and others charge 2x, 3x, 4x, you'll get an advantage on them and may be what will make you have the sale or not. Not all buyers will compare shipping costs, but cheaper shipping also help to develop buyer loyalty and have repeat sales from them.
