I'm new here. Recently returned to collecting cards after several years away. I've spent a few weeks playing around on the site, reading everything, beginning to populate my collection, reaching out to other users, etc.

What I'm most looking forward to is helping provide information on missing sets, cards, images, etc. I've read the FAQs and some related forum threads -- but some guidance would still be helpful.

I've set aside a few boxes of cards for which images are needed and can easily start scanning and uploading those. I've also set aside about 40 sets which I'm pretty sure are not here -- but have some uncertainties and questions about how best to go about this. What, for instance, constitutes a "verified checklist" for a set? Etc. Can anyone help get me started?

Welcome to the site. Having seen the IRs for the missing sets you've submitted I can pretend I can help there.

First, thank you for identifying sets that need to be entered, that help immensely. When creating a set we also need a checklist that goes with it. This is a crowd-sourced site so the members are the ones that provide the information. The members are also the ones that volunteer their time to keep the site accurate and resolve those IRs. With that said, there's no "research team" sitting around to go find missing information. Some while, but ideally it'll be part of the request.

The comments made back are in relation to that. If you have sets that you know needs to be entered, hopefully you can provide the checklist info so it can be entered. You don't have to upload the checklist itself, there's plenty of people here that will help you sort it out. We just need the information so it can be created and entered into here.

Nominally, a checklist would have all the cards in the set included. 40 card set so 40 card names, 40 card numbers, etc. Seeing that you have asked about older non-sport sets, any information you can provide to help get something compiled helps immensely. You can use the forum threads to post partial checklist info and others will help put it together.

Thank you. At this point, I'm mostly submitting IRs for sets that I have, so providing a checklist would be relatively easy. What is the preferred way to submit a checklist when submitting an IR?

Two ways are normally done. One is to copy and paste into the IR itself. The other involves Google Drive/Sheets. You can do one up and drop it in a publicly accessible folder and provide the link in the IR. That way the spreadsheet can be downloaded, manipulated and uploaded to the set.
