I have a copy of a 1994 Jose Guzman Topps Finest that has the word preproduction diagonally across the back in red. I couldn't find it listed on the site under the 1994 Topps Finest cards. I didn't even see it when I looked under the Jose Guzman player page for 1994 because I assumed it would be with the other Finest cards. I finally tracked it down listed under the promos for 1994 Topps cards. Is this truly where the set belongs or does it belong with the promos for the 1994 Topps Finest cards?

It's in the correct location.  They were inserts in the 1994 Topps packs.

For this site, C2C is correct. It should be listed with the set in which it was released. Those pre-production cards are SO tricky though. Just b/c you have one, it doesn't mean you know where it came from originally. I had to track down my 1993 Ozzie Smith one in the same way that you did.

I remember it as clear as if it were yesterday pulling the 1994 Finest Pre-production cards in a 3-card see-through cellophane pack that came in RETAIL 1993 Topps Factory sets. In addition to the Finest card: there was a pre-production card of 1994 Topps and another 1994 pre-pro. card product that I honestly can't remember. 

In a certain Target store in FL (where I lived at the time), every set they had in stock had all Ken Griffey Jr. 1994 Finest pre-production cards which local dealers were buying for $25.00 each (they were reselling them for $50 and had no trouble getting $50). So I kept buying sets breaking even by just selling that ONE Griffey card. In total, I must have bought ten sets. I donated the regular sets to hospitalized children and sold the other pre-production cards for my profit.

Though I don't doubt your story, I think you have what cards we speak of mixed up.  The set that C2 refers to does not include a Griffey Jr.  They were released in series 2 packs of the 1994 Topps set. There are 40 cards in the set.

I believe the one you are referring to is in this insert set http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Subsets.cfm/sid/118377. The values you speak of are more in relation to what you remember. The only thing you might also want to try to recall is the year.  My reference says that they were released in the 1994 Topps Retail factory sets.  It came in a 3-card cellopack along with a 94 Bowman and Topps Stadium Club card.

If you still have one of the Griffey's, this saite is still missing the scan for it. By the way, welcome to the site.  I hope you stick around as it truly is a great site to not only find cards you want to identify but for trading as well as discussions about the hobby.
