Hi!
Some of you know me, most of you don't. I admit...I have been a lurker on the TCDB.
I used to be jimjones1968, now I am Cardsthattimeforgot.
I have started from scratch three times here. (Are you SURÈ you want to delete your collection / for sale/trade / wants?)
Through both accounts, I've had 100% completely successful trades. Every one of them. Definitely a community I've enjoyed being a part of, and will continue to do so.
I have 137 TCDB 'points'. I have some suspicions, but I am not quite sure how I accumulated them. Is 137 good? Should I get more of them? If so, how...and why?
Is there a starter's guide to TCDB? I would love to read it.
I check out the other boards once in awhile, particularly Reddit. Many users ask "what card is this"? I try to copy/paste the TCDB page of the particular card, and respond so in kind. If more people used TCDB, more trades would happen. (And the database would become that much more complete).
Anyways...I have learned about several other member collection needs/wants (i.e. I like Phillies/Red Sox/28 other teams, HOFers, Herb Washington, Eddie Gaedel, Doughnuts, Cards with Kids, Buybacks, etc.).
I suppose I should let you know what my collections needs/wants are. After much deliberation, I am happy to tell you that I've narrowed it down to less than 10 categories:
Sunsets, Everyday or Beautiful
Everyday Sunset cards are the final card issued during a player's career.
Beautiful Sunsets are issued the year AFTER the players' final appearance, and include their entire career stats in their full glory. 1981 Fleer McCovey is one of my favorites.
One for All
One card for every player that ever played the game, if it exists. I want to create an historical binder of Major League Baseball. Sunsets takes care of most of these.
Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays
Every Single One (base cards and short prints only; no inserts / autos / relics /manus). If baseball ever has another expansion team, I will add them to this list.
Boston Red Sox
Topps only. For now...(base cards only; no short prints / inserts / autos / relics /manus).
Seattle Pilots
All Major Cards
Montreal Expos
All Major Cards, focus on O-Pee-Chee, particularly.
First Year Expansions
Think all major cards issued in 1961 for the Washington Senators and the Los Angeles Angels. 1962 for the New York Mets and the Houston Colt .45's. 1969... 1977... etc.)
Mickey Rivers
He's actually a friend of mine on Facebook.
Thurman Munson
I think that's it. I'm likely to change my mind a minute from now...
I have a long way to go, but I am hoping I can chip away at these collection goals piece by piece, and get rewarded along the way when I achieve certain collection goals.
So, what do YOU collect? I ask, because I have hundreds of thousands of cards to enter as trade bait.
If you have stuff to trade me, it would help to know your specific wants / needs so I can make huge trade stack piles as I rummage through these cards.
Finally, I buy a $19.99 blaster of any baseball product each week. I take what I collect; attempt to sell the pricy ones (to buy more cards); and trade the rest. If I knew who was the Judge collector, I would rather trade the 2017 Topps Rookie Rainbow Foil to that person instead, in order to supplement my collection).
Help Me Help You!
Hope to trade with you soon.
Peace Out.
