Hi!
I am a bit confused about the pricing on this site. Is it used for transactions between members or should it reflect the prices paid on my purchases?
I´m quite new to this and made a order to Burbank Sports Cars (or what was it?). Every card thre is at least 50 cents. Should I import that price in this site as a valid deal? Some cards on this site are only 5 cents, so me overpaying for them kind of ruins the pricing. Or does it? Should it?
Thanks!

pricing has been discussed often on the forum in the past, so I would encourage you to search the forum for past threads that should be helpful.
thanks, mark

I try to use some logic when adding pricing for what I've paid for some cards. If I overpay as in the case you mentioned I usually skip adding those. I also don't add some vintage purchases if I bought something of a lower grade so I don't mess with pricing already entered.
I'm sure people use pricing here for several reasons and may reference pricing on some cards to get a general idea of value when trading. The system here is far from perfect but can give you a rough idea of market value if people use it properly and continue to update pricing when they make a purchase.

Ok, thanks a lot!
Couldn´t find a search button for the forums, so sorry if I asked an already often discussed problem...
All the best,

In between the forum section and Buy/Sell/Trade there is a more link. If you click that you should see something that says search to the top right of the result you get.

What yoy said (randylaw) about overpaying got me thinking. I live in Finland, so my chances of getting basic cards is limited and if I want to buy them this (40-50 cents) is the price I pay from american and canadian stores. So, this is the price I pay. I don´t know if it´s person-to-person deals that you can find cards for 0.05.
So, here are two market values, that are quite far apart. Imo, skipping reporting the price I´ve paid distorts the price as much as reporting an overpaid price. I admit it does look stupid when two similar cards cost 0.05 for the other and 0.50 for another, but I don´t know if there´s any other way to fix that than to hope for more deals to be reported...
(Btw, I just bought Mikael Granlund´s Finnish Cardset card for 10 cents and paid 50 cents for a regular Al Iafrate Pro Set card from the 90´s. So it does depend much on where you live))
Sorry again for this, but still couldn´t find discussion on the pricing that would have answered my questions. If you know where they are just give me a hint..

Pricing here and other site sis always been confusing as everyone has their own opine. No one believes Beckett any more.
Prices go up and down so fast. I purchased a card ($2.00) when it came out before the season. Half way through the season his card when over $200.00. 2 years later (injury and a normal season) his card is at less then $10.00
I have yet to add pricing as my thinking may be cheap to others

Prices submitted here should ONLY be actual sale prices whether it be at a show, shop, on-line retail, or auction. But only an actual SALE. I could list the individual cards of an entire 1987 Topps set on ebay for $50.00 each. That should NEVER be reported here. Just because some WANTS to sell a card at a certain price, doesn't mean it will sell at that price.
That said, there is no control over what members submit. Certian permission levels can remove outlandish price claims (like $50 for the 1978 Topps Urbano Lugo), but there's nothing stopping people from posting such things, so the pricing on here can be a little suspect. As with any price guide, the key word is guide. A guide is not absolute, it's simply advice. Take it or leave it, but know that it could be off.

Yeah, I know. You´re both right. As long as it would be a case of actual deals, it would (in the long run) tell something about the price. Then again we would need lots of prices reported for it to be more trustworthy.
