I see what you mean. I downloaded your image and I could not make it better without throwing the red way too dark. 

I'm as perplexed as you are on the other quandry. I feel that each separate reissue should have been listed separately instead of most of them getting shoved into the main checklist, so I'm not really thinking what I think matters. Without seeing any of these in hand especially I just have no idea...but based on your description I would consider them the same as the glossy set already present, and only the inserts different...if all the base cards match in every other way.

For the price, Id much prefer the v550 over the v39. I have a v39 and don't care for it.  The insides are misaligned.. when cards are flush, they are always .02 pixels crooked and I have to edit them all the time after scanning. I also have a line running right down the middle that started about 6 mos after purchase and makes the scanner useless unless I pput the cards on either side of this permanent line.

I should mention that at times i carried the scanner in my backpack so that may have caused the line problem... but the misalignment was from the start so that was a hardware issue.

Also, it doesn't scan graded slabs well. The card wont be in focus.
