RE: The use of SN and PR
I noticed a new gallery that was just added, and saw that it was promo set. Each card had "PROMO/250" on the backs (as they were promos for a set that were serial numbered out of 250). In this case, these cards were not limited to 250 cards, so using either SN250 or PR250 is not correct.
- Please only use SN### for when a card has an actuial serial number on it (whether it be foil-stamped, computer-printed, or hand-written).
- Please only us PR### for when the print run is an absolute known quantity. If the quantity is not known, the use of PR### is incorrect.
RE: Inaccuracy Reports (IRs)
As I like to say, I live in the Inaccuracy Reports and because of that, I see a large portion of the ones that come in. A couple things if you follow can be VERY helpful to those of us who remediate the issues.
- If it's a request to remove a card's image or images, please be specific as to which image (front, back, or both) and why. Also, fill out a separate one for each card on each card's page (not at the set overview or checklist level). Admin has set it up that the remediators are presented with a set of tools based on where the IR was written.
- If it's a request to move a card's images, please include a link to the card the image(s) should be moved to. (Only exception to this - if you're the one remediating your own requests.) And again, 1 IR for each card, written on each card's page.
- If you've noticed a card listing is in the wrong spot, please don't upload an image to either spot until the checklist is corrected.
- If you see that card's image is in the wrong spot, allow TCDB to move the incorrect image to the correct spot, do not upload a new image to the good spot and request the old image to be deleted. Your new image will be deleted and the old one will be moved.
- When requesting checklists, please include links to the sets, checklists, and whatever else you can show us. It's better that we have have too much info that we wind up not using than for us to not have enough info to do anything. (Submitting a set request with no info is a sure-fire way for it to sit there for a long time.)
- Please don't ask to have cards added to multiple sets in one IR (unless it's a single card in parallel sets). Asking for a card to be added to this 2002 set and another one to 2007 set and a third to a 1995 set is very confusing. One, the IR only links to one of these. Two, remediators may have limited time and may not tbe able to follow the rabbit hole to get them all done at one time. It will get passed over in most scenarios. One IR per task, please.
I know it might seem like a lot of extra work on your part to get the IRs submitted in the manner I've requested. Believe me, I submit several of my own every day (although the majority of the ones I submit are as a means to handle already submitted IRs from others). I understand the tedium. The problem with examples like the last one (multiple requests in one IR), I see these sit there for days, weeks, and in some cases it can start being counted in months. Seems I generally take on these "longer" running tasks. If these were broken up, there are others who would be able to handle these and it would get done much quicker. As I always say, please help us to help you. Follow these guidelines, and it will really smooth out the process (which admittedly, is very smooth now, but this would help us get back to, and keep it at, maintenance mode).
Big thanks to all who are already doing this, as it does help. And to those who were doing it the way described, no worries, I really appreciate the fact that you're taking the time to help out the site by informing us of the issues. Please understand, this is my no means an insult to what anyone has done or is doing. We're all looking to improve. Thank you VERY much!
