PINS and INSIGNIAS:
There are probably a few gray areas here, that might require some updating. Most of the descriptions comes from what is presently listed here, with valuable comments from TCDB members.
>Pins and insignias are not cards. however.....
>If issued by a Card Company or is a Food Issue, it can be listed. They are then considered cards by definition although made of plastic, metal or another material.
>Also, not as common, would be items released in a format in place of a card set.
>Standalone pins and Insignias representing TEAM LOGOS issued by different licensing would probably have to be approved by ADMIN or at least questioned by L8 members. Many Team Logos fall into this situation needing special attention. Like the "Coasters" some of these items are already listed on site, ex. 1977 Michael Schechter Associates Discs customized, paper, plastic or glass. Do they require an IR or just be left alone?

The MSA discs are "cards", just round, not standard rectangular dimensions.

The vast, vast majority of companies ordered them without customization. It was cheaper and they could rubber stamp their company information on the back. Also, MSA only printed them, they never released them directly. And only the blank backed discs should have "MSA" in the set title since the actual releaser is unknown.

These are advertising discs produced by Michael Schechter Associates. Anybody could request them to be produced...ex BOBSCARDZ Sports Cards could be put on the back.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

So are we now going to attack anything already listed and also included in most Collector Price Guides, that is not rectangular and about the size of the modern-day trading card to be deleted off of this site just because we can't get Jello molds or things like that listed?
The discs which come as pictured as well as with about 13 different advertisers logos properly printed on the backs over two years are card collectibles in all but a few disagreeable minds.

What??? If you think I'm referring to ALL discs your wrong. I'm talking about the 1977 Mike Schlector discs available to anyone for advertising. Anyway, believe we got off the topic of PINS and INSIGNIAS. My point, what is the criteria for this category? There are TEAM logos that are not cards but maybe eligible for listing here. That was the question. They can be made out of medal, plastic or some other material. That was what I referred to as a gray area. I like discs in general, not trying to pull them down rather are there pins and insignias that can be added.

I am personally of the opinion that pins should not be listed here. This is a trading card database, not a sports memorabilia and collectibles database.
I see no logical reasoning as to why they should be listed here as a checklist item. If there were pins issued with cards, the cards should be documented with the inclusion of the pins included in the release notes.
However, this is simply my personal opinion. As I always say, we won’t all agree on everything that is or isn’t listed. As it doesn’t hurt my feelings one way or another, I will abide by whatever the all-knowing Admin says

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Yes, no pins. And if they came with a card, then just the card, not the pin. Just like Kenner Starting Lineup, Upper Deck Die Casts...cards but not the "toy".
