Was asked to start
a new thread today
on something I have
been asking about.
Some input by any
or all would be
great. How far do
you collecters go
in deciding where a
player collection
start and stops? I
have over the years
started to collect
different action /
highlight cards
that show Bill
Ranford in them
even if they are
not considered his
card. This started
because I used to
use Beckett and the
cards began showing
up on his card
list. Not knowing
any better I added
them and have
continued with the
practice. Now that
I am here I am
trying to find out
how to link these
cards to his name
without having to
change the card
name that already
exists. I have a
few examples I can
use to describe
what I mean if need
be. So I made a
suggestion to
somehow make it so
we can add links
someway (such as a
new drop down menu
or the like) to add
names without
altering the
official card name.
Hope that makes
sense. I may just
have the WORST case
of OCD but I am
wondering if anyone
else does something
similar?? Thanks
for your time.

TAGGING. Much like Facebook where you can tag a photo. We can tag other players visible on the card but who are not associated with the card.
Here's an example:
www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/74/cid/31390/1974-Topps-476-World-Series-Game-5
The card shows three players; Cleon Jones, Ray Fosse, Jerry Grote; but none of them are associated with the card.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Go figure ... I
don't Facebook!!
LOL So if I tag
these cards with
his name will they
appear in his card
list when doing a
search? I looked at
your example card
and yes that is the
type of card I mean
but I did not see
anything in the
tags area.

Just snooped a bit
of the tags area
and when I clicked
to add a new tag,
Admin has a few
suggestions as to
what is allowed, it
appears that adding
a player name is
not what they have
intended it for,
any input Admin?

Sorry, RanFan, I was making a suggestion. As far as I know, tagging players (PIDs) is not currently available. But something I'd definitely want myself.

Ahhhh lightbulb!!!
LOL Yes that would
be a great idea, my
wife just explained
to me the benefits
(?) of tagging
photos in Facebook
and that would be a
good idea,
especially if they
would show up when
you do a player
search. I'm kind of
a little old school
even tho I'm 43 ...
lol .... Facebook
is for my teenaged
daughter .... =)

A player collections starts with a single card and ends in tears and madness.

to put a link in your Reply: at the point you want a link click on the icon that looks like a globe & chain link (under the clipboard W icon), then type or paste the URL in the little box.
