Addressing adding sets with incomplete checklists. It seems we all have sets with either CLs we can't find or incomplete CLs. It seems from the L8s that fixing incomplete CLs is a real PIA. Couldn't we have a "blank template" with a notation that the checklist needs updating, maybe can * it or something. Members can then add the set with an incomplete CL, L8s would be aware of that and no need for them getting stressed out. Since this is a trading card database, I would think the more cards the merrier. I'm sure with all the technology and computer knowledge of our members this could be easily done. ADMIN is a wizard with the site, bet he could do it in a blink! Just a thought.

Not to be an arse, but you are kind of guilty of these phenomena (incomplete checklists) yourself. As you admitted in a recent thread you uploaded incomplete information on Fleer Sticker checklists that still need to be sorted out. I don’t think people can add to those because there are no notes listed anywhere so hard to build off of. Many people have now gone through those pages confused as to what they have/don't have as a result.
I’d comment further and provide more feedback on this, but have to run to son’s soccer match. Avoiding uploading an incomplete checklist is a first start though.

In theory I like the idea...in practice it will not work, because you know it's going to lead to people just uploading what they have and making those of us who care do all kinds of work to correct their lazyness.
People do that already and look at the work it's made those of care have to do already.
I would like to see a way to make crowd sourcing a checklist easier than it currently is. It's beyond my skillset to figure out how though.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. jimetal - I didn't upload incorrect info, Where did I say that? I did say the sets are a MESS and new CLs need to be uploaded. I'm trying to work with Dan on this. And what sets am I guilty of inc. CLs, I said there are plenty on the TCDB? Anyway, Hope soccer went well!
Billy - I get it. But I'm not sure by allowing the crowd sourcing to add [somehow], is any worse off than it is now. At least a notation alerts ALL to an inc. CL. Plenty incs. on here now, why not at least be able to note and identify them.
Let's be honest everybody....+-The TCDB is a great, better than GREAT site, everybody luvs it, newbies are thrilled...... BUT the more members join, the more issues will arise from oldies to newbies. Control and care is admirable, but it will not stop or curtail what members list or don't list. I now know that. It may have worked in the beginning with a smaller dedicated crew, but now it could be overwhelming, some times you go with the flow....change isn't always bad.

What about in the THINGS TO DO section there is another link for people to help fill out partial checklists. I'll use my situation as an example I have a set that I have cards 19-36. I know someone...somewhere has or knows of numbers 1-18 and maybe they are waiting on a checklist so they can add to the set. They don't know that Mike in Wichita has the 2nd series and they are trying to find it like I'm trying to find the first part.
I don't understand all the logistics, but it would seem like it wouldn't be to hard to put in what we know and just not finalize the checklist so anyone who knows (even if it is just who they collect) could add to the set one card at a time.

The preferred way (at least, I think it's preferred - I like it) is to find evidence of a set, create the set (not the checklist, just the set), and then begin a forum thread where you can list what you have, and others can build onto it through responses.
Additionally, I always thought that the best resource for sharing documents and info has been Google Docs. Perhaps someone could begin building partial checklists on Google Sheets, and a forum thread could be started for those to be linked. Then, anyone who clicks on the links can add info and cards to it.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

When you create a set maybe we can have a link tying the forum thread to the set until the CL is finished and added. That way when someone looks at the set they can go to the thread and maybe help out the CL without looking or screaching for the right CL thread.

At least there are more positive replies than negative. Once again we strike a sensitive nerve, maybe a change is needed...... probably not, knowing the "anti-nature" on here. It Was Worth a few keystrokes.

I will entertain trades but please don't offer me a 1993 Dave Stieb for a Nolan Ryan rookie. I prefer player for player (at least similar era and similar stardom).
