I have been (slowly) going through my personal collection for a couple of months and I happened to come across a box with precut pogs/slammers/caps/bottle caps last night. I do see a few POG sets here and before I go through the hassle of looking at them for inclusion in my inventory here, I wanted to know if POGs were OK to add? I struggled a bit to find a checklist and I am fairly certain I don't have a complete set. Many of them are of Shaq from the early 90's when someone told me that POGS were 'the next HUGE thing in collecting...."
yeah...so much for that....

Only the ones that were made by Collect-A-Card, Skybox and Upper Deck OR the ones inserted as inserts into some other sets, mostly by Collect-A-Set. For example they were included as an insert in one of the Power Rangers sets. The Shaq ones you mention, if they are die cut, came from Taco Bell.
For what it's worth, I still have an interest in pogs, and I would really like to finish a couple of my sets- especially the two DC Comics sets and the NASCAR set.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Only POGS that were inserted in packs of trading cards are acceptable.
I used to work in a shoe store when POGS were hot. We had POGS that were given out with the purchase of certain shoes.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Back in the day POGS were EVERYWHERE. There was a large crafts store (I think it was on of those big store chain crafts stores) that had 3 maybe 4 large barrels of POGS mostly generic ones and slammers. Then on either a couple of endcaps of shelving or maybe in an actual row there were some of the specific sets POGS like the Annimaniacs or Power Rangers, and sports ones.

Good old POGS. I had some when I was a kid. Brings back a memory of me when I was about 6 or 7 watching my brother's youth basketball game. I was running up the bleachers with my POGS plastic case in hand and I tripped. Got some pretty nice cuts on my shins and my POGS blew up everywhere. Was sitting there with bloody legs trying to find my POGS.

I was gonna say the same thing.
The difference though is that they were released in card form and you had to punch them out to use them as POGS. Of course, I never punched them out of my cards. Most other sports card pack-released POGS were just the POG.

Ted Williams did it in '93 and thankfully only that year. A comparision Bob could appreciate are the 80's Donruss puzzle pieces. Of course, being me, I'm trygin to finish the set. Yes, in cards format not individual POGs....

There's also a NHL Pogs set manufactured by Canada Games in 1994. Different player on each pog. I would include this one to the db.
