Admin has addressed these issues by:
- Adding the last log in date on the user profile page
- Adding a column with an icon in the Member Directory that shows who has logged in within the last 30 days
- Adding a "filter" feature in the Member Directory allowing a user to filter on all members, members who have logged in within the last 30 days, 60 days, 6 months, or within the past year.
Short of requesting yet another query into the database when collection info is being retrieved, which would slow things down, and possibly slow things to a standstill if a couple people click on the collection info for a couple cards at the same time, these have been carefully thought out as to how to assist in trade requests without bogging down the site.
Please think about the ramifications of database queries in situations like this. Suggestions and questions are good, but please understand when people give informed reasons as to why the suggestion may not be feasible in the context.

Thank you.
#2 and 3 I did not know.
I understand that another filter could slow things down and we all don't want that. I do like the ideas of some sort of color code that indicates your login status.
I'm all about informed reasons why things should be one way or another, in fact that was the whole intent of me posting this thread, but there is a way to do it.
Thanks for the info Dan

i wouldn't mind seeing the people removed the the "Mentions" list under each card if they haven't logged in the last 30 or 60 days. I know i've seen a few emails or about to send a email to people and when no response / or when checking the member directory, they haven't logged on within 30 days,- thus no repsonse. If that could be linked to removing their name from the MENTIONS and then when they DO log back in, it links their collections back to it.

I believe there is an option to turn off trade proposals under our profile setting...however, I don't think that is indicated until you actually attempt to make a proposal to that person (correct me if im wrong). So you could spend time looking through their trade list and your wantlist to figure out what you wanna trade then you go to make a proposal only to find that they are not accepting trades.

Again, this is an extra layer of queries that has to occur as a means of filtering out those who haven't logged in within a certain time. Same with the color-coding - a query would need to be run to deetermine last log in, a calculation would then have to be done to determine the duration since, etc. On a card where 2 people have it listed, not a big deal, but on some of these late-80s sets, the cards are literally in hundreds of collections.

I am not a computer programmer so I don't know how difficult this idea would be but what if, the color coded ID would be associated to your last log in date no matter where your ID shows up whether it be on your profile page, someone's message bank, the Forums, or Collection queries.
My idea is that if I logged on in the last 30 days, my "sandyrusty" ID would be highlighted in green; if I didn't log on in the last 30 days, it would be in yellow and if that exceeded 90 days, in red. Just highlighted, not the font. I don't know if that would simplify the necessary changes in programming in that it is holistic tot he site and not just in one area of the site.

The the query would have to run at every instance someone's member ID is displayed in color coded fashion (because it would have to check to see if you've logged in within the last x number of days). That's actually worse than on just the collection page.
And I hear the first question - why don't it just run behind the scenes at the midnight rollover? If that occurs, and someone who hasn't been on in a year clogs on that morning, they would still show as not being "active" even though they are now. So having this in real time seems to be the request here.
