I am going thorugh my John Smoltz collection and came across this site contradiction. John's bio on his profile page has him born in Warren MI https://www.tcdb.com/Person.cfm/pid/5500/John-Smoltz but on his 1991 Donruss card (yes, all 3 versions), someone put in a UER that he was born in Detroit MI, not Warren MI like the card states https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/152/cid/71527/1991-Donruss-75-John-Smoltz. So, which is it?
I am not familiar with the Detroit area and suburbs, but is Warren a suburb of Detroit? One way or another, just looking at a sampling of his cards, the birth place is usually Detroit except for the 1991-1993 Donruss cards. Then in 1994 Upper Deck Colector's Choice shows Warren, MI.
Back to my collection.

Warren is a suburb of the City of Detroit, it all blends together next to Hamtramck and before Sterling Heights

Yes, Warren is in the Detroit metro area. My family lives in the Detroit metro area.
The "Born" on cards can be misleading. His parents could have lived in Warren but he was born in a Detroit hospital. Sometimes card companies use residence as the birth city, sometimes they use the hospital's city as the birth city.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

So, are the 1991 Donruss cards correct in saying that it is a UER? if so, there are many more than those I mentioned. Personally, close enough that either can be correct, Warren or Detroit.

Warren vs Detroit? IMO, not an UER. His family resided in Warren when he was born. Do we know what hospital he was born in? A matter of semantics.

I've seen this on some football cards. Some cards had his city of residence when he was born, others had the nearest city where the hospital was. To me both are correct.
