I'm trying to figure out the set naming convention this site uses.  I thought it was Year Company Set but then like in Football you have Donruss and Score which are somehow different from Panini.  Panini has the exclusive license so why isn't it all Panini?  

Donruss and Score were around for decades until Panini acquired them in 2009, and most people still refer to them by those names

It's the same as with Bowman.  Bowman is a Topps brand, Score and Donruss are Panini brands.

The site has never had any consistently applied naming convention. We have, for example, Ultra instead of Fleer Ultra and Stadium Club instead of Topps Stadium Club, but Pacific Crown Royale or Panini Crown Royale and Pacific Revolution or Panini Revolution rather than just Crown Royale and Revolution. And then there are the hybrids like plain old Select when the brand was made by Pinnacle, but Panini Select after Panini bought the name. 

Playoff Absolute in Beckett's magazines are just listed as Absolute, but when Panini took over their production they get listed as Panini Absolute. I guess it doesn't have to make sense.

In most cases the name of the set is determined by the printing on the front of the card.  The sets still say Donruss or Score on the front.  Panini appears on the back with the copyrights.
