Has anyone else noticed that the card values / collection values have dropped recently on TCDB.com? My collection has dropped by approximately $2k (from $17k to $15k) in roughly the last 30 to 45 days...anyone else experiencing this?
Understand higher interest rates, gas prices, stock market is down at the same time, etc...basic economic stuff - but not sure how that was impacting the trading card industry.
Thanks.

And as a friendly reminder, take the values here as a grain of salt. If you are taking pricing here as the be all end all and reflective of reality then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

I know the values/prices on this site don't actually mean much, if anything, but it does bum me out to see this honestly. I don't collect for value, I've never sold a card in my life, but it was more enjoyable to see the slight variances in card prices between players than just seeing every card be exactly 18 cents because one site sells them for that.

Personally, I like the implementation of SportLots prices. It does give, at least to me, a more accurate value for my collection. Not completely accurate, of course, because you can still throw in an eBay 99 cent price and skew the value, but it IS much closer to reality. I don't know of any other website that offers common cards for 5-10 cents...do you? 18-20 is a much more reliable guide for a price - I've paid that many a time at SportLots!

Thanks for the replies. I am also not collecting for their "value", but it was simply an interesting indicator of what cards I purchased v. how much the TCDB.com value of my account went up proportionately. And I get that demand is decreasing, etc...I understand that much from Econ 101.
I think the Sportlots explanation makes the most sense.
Enjoy.

Thank you for posting this topic. Supply and demand, age, condition, geographical location and references to real time value are and should be the guidelines. I am sure many of you that have large collections have many cards that have no price associated with some of your cards as I do. I still use this forum as a source for current values and peek at some of the other sites as a reference.

Isn't the goal supposed to be that the price on this site can be relied on to some degree? And all of the data from Sportslots may be bringing things down, but wouldnt that also make it a more accurate price to use?
