I read profiles when there’s a reasonable amount of information and everything is written clearly with proper grammar. If there’s an entire novel written (which I’ve seen on some people’s profiles) or no English skills present then I probably won’t be taking the time to read it!

My eBay store.- Be sure to check it out! FOR SALE/TRADE: View my profile for details! If there's a certain player you want, ask me about them, I'll probably have a card of their's that I'm willing to trade but haven't marked on my FS/T list. For more specific info, visit profile or message me.

its also very easy to miss the profile entirely, if i go from my "trade matching" list one click takes me straight to the common matches we have and then i have to go back to their profile to read it, then click around again to find our matches again...easy to miss a step and fire off trade offers without ever looking (as i am sure i have done many a time)

spazmatastic,
I'm with you on that. I read every profile of someone I'm sending a trade offer to (which is rare since I get more incoming trade offers than I send out). It's a way of me getting an idea of what the trader is interested in. What is the focus of their collection? What are their priorities? How can I help their collection, and mine, in the best way possible? I'm certainly going to be more interested in trading with someone that has set-building or team-collecting interests listed over something like "Flippin' cards for big $$$$. Send me an offer!!!!!" in their profile.
Your profile is very short! And, your first sentence up front states no trades only selling. The rest is straight-forward. No PWEs!!! Easy to read and concise. My profile, on the other hand, is like a novel. I don't want it to be, but, it states as clearly as I can get it, what I'm looking for in a trade. It's a guidepost to help someone know what to expect if they trade with me. It's been written and tweaked over the few years I've been on the site and addresses questions and issues that have come up in past trades. It saves me from repeatedly saying those things in trade messages.
To pile onto this, the thing that bugs me is when someone sends a trade offer and the message is blank. At least take a second to type "Hello" or "Thanks for considering" or something. It's like going to a car lot to trade in your car and the sales person doesn't say a word to you and just points at a car. What the heck is that?

HAPPY COLLECTING!!! - Baltimore Orioles, Washington Capitals, Baltimore Ravens, and a few Baltimore Colts.
- 1954-2024 Topps baseball sets, including updates. I'm on a mission to complete Topps sets, so no trade is too large! Here is my Topps Set Completion Status List.
- My TCDB Completed Sets List.
- I have 50,800+ different cards listed for trade (I don't list multiples).

I dont understand the argument/opinions against the original post. Sometimes you have to blast out the frustrations for all to hear so the individual offenders are addressed. The original post is a "if the shoe fits, wear it" post. I am currently dealing with a member who simply continues to send requests after my refusing time and time again; based on my profile statements. I read profiles. I read feedback. A majority of members do the same. However, as the database ages and new members begin to enjoy this group, as I have for many years, we are now dealing with different attitudes on how to deal with people. I believe asking for forgiveness over permission is taking over and its not necessarily a good thing. While I have the mic, how about deleting members who obviously do not use the service? They are clogging up my "matches"!

I agree with your last sentence. Well, maybe not delete but I think after a certain number of days of not logging in they should go to an inactive status and not be included in searches or matches.

If I ever found myself this angry with people on a website or forum, I would simply stop using it. Same goes for anything else that isn't serving me anymore.

Couldn't agree more! I do this for fun. If I get an offer that doesn't work for me I'll just politely decline it. If someone declines my offer I'll accept that and move on. What shouldn't go unnoticed is how many wonderful members there are on this site. 99.9% of my interactions have been positive and I always have the option to block users who can't be polite.

This has been asked of Admin. (Showing active members only). He has replied to me. "Not at this time". Maybe it is time to ask again knowing something like this will take time to program.
As far as the OP. It is out of frustration. Yes we see postings like this all the time.. There is a lot of little things that get us frustrated. I'm sure we can make a long list of things here that frustrate us. As we are different, we would have different things bugging us.

My negative response is based as much on history of similar posts from OP as it is the topic. Dont make me go on blast...;)
