Why can't I see the owner's card conditions when I'm going through his Trade list?  

Speaking only for myself, they have to be manually entered by the owner. I have like 40,000 cards I'm not going to be able to specify individual conditions for, but I do have a general condition listing on my profile. That said, if a card is involved in a proposal, and usually mid-80s or earlier, I'll generally update the condition, typically if I don't mention condition, it's Ex-NM-MT, because that's what I'd expect from others.

So he only added the conditions inside the trade proposal itself, and it didn't affect how the cards are listed on his For Trade page?

He would have had to put the conditions on his cards for it to show in the trade proposal. I would assume most people only add the conditions on vintage cards or cards with some condition issue. At least that’s what I do if something is less than mint or as a typical collector would expect.
