I just created my first checklist & have a few more almost ready to go.
A few questions though:
1) How do you identify cards that do not have a specific name on the front, but have a title on the back? Ex: the first card of a set just has a team action photo, while the back is titled "1993-94 Riley Cup Champions" - where other cards have a player's name.
2) What do you do with sponsor, or production company "ad" cards that are packaged with team sets? Ex: a card with only company business information on it - no mention of the team or any of its players.
3) When a player's name shows up "black", i.e. without a link, does that need to be addressed, and by whom? I assume it means there is no PID for that person yet.
Thanks,
Kurt

1 - Whatever is displayed on the card should be in the name field on here. If all it says is "1993-94 Riley Cup Champions" on the back with absolutely no text on the front, then go with "1993-94 Riley Cup Champions" for the name. That, would not get a PID.
2 - If the sponsor card has zero mention of the team/set it's sponsoring, then the card simply gets "Sponsor Name" in Name, NNO in number (unless it does have a number in the set), and "SPON" in the Note field (please don't forget to add "Sponsor" as the definition for "SPON" to the glossary). Leave the team blank, and after the import, go in and select "No Team". (If the team is mentioned on the card, then use the team so it will get linked to the TID.)
3 - Black, linkless names mean they do not have a PID - yet. Please add the PID and fill in whatever info you have for that player/person on their PID profile page.
Thanks for asking and helping out!

3) double check spelling and that there are no extra spaces before adding a new PID

I agree with what Dan said, but I'd like to expand on point #2. If the ad card is numbered in sequence with the rest of the set, I include it on the main set checklist. If it is NNO, then I list it as a single card insert. This keeps the main checklist neater for the people who don't care about the ad cards.

I really wish that the people who submit checklists would use the ACTUAL numbering from the set, instead of generic numbering. I noticed a lot of 13/14 hockey sets (especially Panini stuff) have the MEM/AU cards with numbers instead of the lettering they have on the card. Makes it difficult to find if someone is searching by card number.

Aaron, I hear ya - and 99% of the members here hear ya. Here's the problem:
Have you ever looked at the checklist Panini themselves release? They release the checklist with numbers, then proceed to put letters on the cards.
Now, the careful uploader would wait and try to find images of the cards from these sets to verify numbering before uploading. The ones who are just trying to accumulate points will upload whatever they can find.
