What a horrible idea. Just insert a redemption card and redeem it for a graded original that hasn't been altered with bad bling.

It should almost be considered a grade. Then if you did a detailed add for the card in it's year of issue, the grade could be FS (Foil Stamped). You'd know then it can't be mint, because it's been altered, it could then be "detailed added" to that particular set. Just a passing thought.

I like these cards, but only as a quarter box or dollar box item for a team or player that I may collect..
as for a checklist, I think there should be a general checklist with a sample card with a stamp to show what stamp looks like (comared to other stamps from other years)
thanks, mark

Worthless in terms of any resale or trading value. Only good as place fillers in a set collection when you don't have the card yet. Maybe "starter" cards for new collectors and young kids.
As for being in the database, I would say don't bother. As others have said there is NO way of knowing how many of these things have been stamped at all. There probably isn't even any full sets to be had of these things for set collectors. I like the idea of Topps having buyback cards if they didn't alter them at all.

For the reasons stated above, I don't really think there should be a checklist, but there should be a comment somewhere on the set that says that there were buybacks, and in the case of this year's Topps football, the comment could explain what the various color stamps meant in the way of numbers.
For my collection, I am picking up Browns that I see (if they're cheap) and storing them in my collection with the 2015 cards, not the original card. I have no wantlist for the set however since I don't know exactly what is out there.

My only exception to these is i do like the 10th Anniversary A&G cards, especially since they framed the minis after stamping them which looks nice. I don't go out of my way, but if i see some for cheap i scoop them up.

I opened a 2015 Topps Update Hobby box and there were at least 8 of these stupid 'buyback' cards. One was a 1969 Topps #6 HR leaders and it was seriously in straight up poor condition. Tattered, rounded and full of creases. I was so disappointed not only in the condition, but the number of these cards. I find no value in them whatsoever. I would not consider them as part of my older set collections. I hope Topps stops this nonesense.
