I have a what I would guess to be around 1973 card with Richard Petty's car. Since units are metric, I assume this is not from the US. Seems like there would be cards with other series race cars on them, but this is the only card I have. Anyone know anything about this card or set?

Given the "E1" card number and the general layout of the information, I think this is from an Ace Trumps set. I'll have to poke around and see which set that back design matches.
Edit: "Ace Trumps" may have been too specific, this may be from another similar product called "Top Trumps".

I've seen those, an Ace Trump (no "S") game set.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I think the Ace Trump cards (sorry Chuck, yes, no 's') always had this back design, if not always this color:
I'm leaning toward the one above being a "Top Trumps" card.
I know the Ace cards were made in West Germany, and the ones printed in German carried the name "Top Ass". The Top Trumps seem to be from Great Britain.

Definitely Ace Trump https://www.ebay.com/itm/372309632870. Getting a year on these sets is tough. I believe they were produced continuously for a number of years.

I hadn't seen a set from that 'generation' of the game before, thanks Chuck!
I did find this site with an extensive writeup of the history of the game and products. There's lots of information there, but it still seems far from complete, and they don't show the back designs associated with the various sets.

Thanks everyone. Will have to look to see if I can figure out which Ace Trump set had this card and when it was printed.

Based on the cover card style and back design of the set shown in the aution the Chuck linked to, I suspect that it is most likely from one of these two sets:
But I really have no idea how many different cover card designs used the same back design.
