What I know: Ronnie McLean is a local driver around here. Still racing at South Bend, according to Race Monitor. It looks like it was produced by Hi-Performace Racing cards. Here's an article about them. It sounds like they produced a ton of cards, to order, and in custom sizes. It is NNO.
What I'm fairly confident in: This is from 2006. My dad's company sponsored a street stock that year, and it's the only year I remember going to the track, minus a few hazy memories from being young - with baseball and football taking most of our time, it was tough to go. It would have been 2006 when I got this card, and since we would have gone later in the season, I'm making a fairly logical assumption that this would get a year of 2006.
What I don't know: 1) does this get listed here? These were printed to order - nothing more than a fancy business card, really. I know it really seems like a trading card, and I was really confident that it belonged here, until I thought about it...the article I linked above seems to indicate that I could have had them print 500 8x10 color photos of me racing go-karts in my back yard growing up and called them "trading cards".
2) If it does get listed here, how so? Single card stand-alone set? "2006 Hi-Performance Racing Cards Ronnie McLean"? That seems most logical but so basic that before I throw it up here, I'd like to get some opinions on if it belongs, and how it should be listed if it does.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

We have them up here in Canada as well, Different Company, What these are is Just a promo that drivers have to havd out to fans during and after the races. I have many of my own from different years. As a former amateur driver I would say these shoul;dnt be added for the simple fact it opens up can of worms. I know I jave some from card size to 8X10. With all my info and Team and Sponsor info as well. When you go to Nascar Races you can get alot from all the Different teams and Sponsors as well.
Just my 2 cents

This is exactly my thoughts as well as far as adding them. When I first pulled it out of the box it was in tonight, I was convinced that it should be entered here. The more I researched it, the less convinced I was, and the more I think about it now, my opinion is more and more swayed to "no".

I have several cards from this manufacturer that I recently acquired in a lot of drag racing cards. I have other work I want to get done before I dig into cataloging them, but I believe there is a place for them here. They might fit in the "Team Issue" category. There are other similar issues already listed.
Even if you consider the subject card to more of a "Team Handout", those are quite similar to the Team Photo issues that are listed here for other sports.

Custom printed. Anyone can order custom cards from Topps. So, do we add all custom printed cards to the database? IMO, no.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I raced for 12 yrs and have some from every years plus many more from others i raced against and other divisions. Plus I have had my father uncle, 3 brothers, 6 cousins, my niece and Nephew all raced or are racing now. Every year we get them made to hand out to fans" Manly kids". LOL if I have to add all mine does that mean I'm famous world wide?

That's where I started leaning with the go-kart comment too. I mean, that makes sense. But I do know that these aren't meant for that, and are actually intended to be produced as trading cards (and yes, I know, intent, can't necessarily determine it, etc. ).
One thing I do want to point out is from the article I linked, however: "But they do have customers from all over the country from a variety of racing circuits, even a 7-year-old on a bicycle motocross circuit and a traveling race track evangelist." I'm not 100% sure what a traveling race track evangelist might take the shape of, but this sounds to me like the company was printing cards for those drivers of all types who were racing under some sort of organized circuit - not necessarily for Joe Schmoe in his back yard. Would that make a difference?
Consider me Devil's advocate. I'm still pretty sure these won't be listed here. But I'm also still on the fence about it. And I'm really, honestly okay if they do or don't. Any additional thoughts?

The company that printed them did not print them as a cohesive set. Just a lot of individual, personal, custom card orders.
