Hello everyone,
I was invited by vroomed to post this second of two cards I have from the 1988 Donruss set, coming from packs based on the Career Highlights text, where the . after INC in the copyright is absent.
Attached are the three different variations I have (from left to right), Pack version, Pack No Dot version, and Factory Set version. Once again, for this player, the front is the same on all three cards, only the back differs (look at the text under the Career Highlights, the shorter 4th line is from the Factory Set).
Thanks for your time,
Philippe (aka Tassacafix)

So what we may be looking at is "Inc." and "Inc" (no dot) VARs for the packed out cards?

Right, and out of the 200+ cards I have bought from lots, just of Expos players alone, I only found 2 cards without the dot. It's not an exact science, but it is still quite interesting.
Cheers,
Philippe

I also am a team collector, and looked through my plethora of extras. I found, among others, this:
I can't believe it.

I am about ready to take all my Donruss doubles from those years with all the variations, and set them out by the road and hope someone takes them all. Had just gone through my 87's and 88's to try and find pack and set variations, and now this (as John Oliver would say.).

I picked up another lot of 1988 Donruss Expos cards, about 100, and found two more players with the NO DOT variation: #88 Jeff Reed and #222 Tim Wallach
They seem to be rare finds based on my sample of cards

Yes, I have about 10-12 of each card in my Phillies extras, and I had only 1 of each (when I had one). Only one did I have 2 of (Daulton!).
I also noticed, and you might be able to tell from my scan, that the blue back color is slightly different as well. The No Dot version has a more solid, even, and brighter blue. It made finding them in my stack a lot easier.

Yes, I did note the slight variation on the back color as well.
So Dan, are we a go to insert those new variations in the database?
Regards,
Philippe
