Well that pretty much answers the question I had. Image on the left (front) is from my brand spanking new all-in-one brother that uses the more common CIS technology, the one on the right (back) is the new Epson I just hooked up using the CCD technology. Both are the same dpi and settings are as close to excat as I could get. The file images vary by about 50 kb in size. I would say CCD wins the battle, I am switching as of tonight, all cards will be scanned using my plain jane decktop model. Hope this has helped people with their scanner questions.

Was very affordable, I paid just over $90 CDN (it was on sale) total to my wife's desk, lol. It was like $75.16 for the scanner and just over $15 for shipping. I bought it right off of eBay.

The Perfection v39 uses CIS. Compact, flatbed scanners use the smaller Contact Image Sensor (CIS).

Now I'm worried about weather or not it will work for what I need. I will be testing it out soon...how do you find out before you buy what version of scanning it does? I remembered the info from the other thread but there was nothing at all on the box. It was marked down $20 of on sale so I figured I would take the chance. I was in the middle of another project and didn't want to open it until I finished- which I did yesterday around 6 AM- but then yesterday I went to a convention, today I am going to my only big car show of the year, so I won't be able to get it open until Monday at the earliest. My plan was to go through my unscanned cards and pull all the mirror foils and finest style to do first before the scanner got dust on it, but now I am thinking should I test it first before doing all that sorting work...?

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
