1997 Donruss Preferred Cut to the Chase Parallel?

A guy I trade with added this in one of my packages because I'm a Jake fan. Said he's had it forever, doesn't know where it came from. The corners are of course different than the standard card. I have a theory that it was just done by someone with access to a die cut machine. The cuts are very perfect and look great. I just can't find anything at all about this being an actual parallel. Any thoughts? Oh, and the back is the exact same as the regualr card. Forgot to take a pic.
