In a record setting error series, I believe I have a new card to add.

In sorting a box of 1990 Pro Set hockey (you ask why ?) I found that one card had an upside down on the back.

Card # 240 Kevin Steven's had two variations - one regular back and one with the entire image upside down. 

I have not found this variation included yet.

If anyone has info or similar card, please let me know. I think is more significant than a roller mark on a card.

Sounds more like a printing error, which aren't considered variations.

Printing error is an error.  So this would fall under the errors and variations section in the set.

No, printing flaws are not errors that are listable here, and therefore will not get added to this set.

There were several known Series 1 1990 Pro Set hockey cards that were printed with a reversed back that were later corrected - all were Penguin and All-Star cards.  I believe this is the full list of cards impacted by this error:

227, 229, 231, 233, 235, 236, 238, 240, 241, 242, 338, 341, 350, 357, 360, 361, 366, 373, 374 and 375

They aren't going to do crazy on those kind of variations and put them on the site. If they did, 1990 Pro Set football master set would ballon 4-5x what is currently is now.

So if you have those errors, when you add them to your collection you do detailed add and use the notes field to put what makes it different from the regular card.

I read it differently than others. You state "...the entire image...". The only image on the backs is the player's head shot. The rest of the back is text. I was thinking upside down head shot.

These have been cataloged since 1991. Very well known variations that only affect the Penguins and several of the All-Stars in series 1.

They come from a specific print run of 1990-91 series one. They are not common nor very rare, when you open a case from that run, about 1/2 of all the Penguins and affected All-Stars will be the flipped backs type. 

Print flaw or variation, doesn't matter, they have been added to wantlists, traded, and sold for 30+ years.

It is things like this that make me soooooooooooooooo happy Pro Set never did baseball.
