Card Identification Forum

This threw me and I've Google'd It, search several sites for info and not one card like this yet. Here's the thing because it can be an optical illusion, I've had them in these cases since I bought them in packs pack in 95. The "Leaf - Frank Thomas" Insert set of 6 cards. 

Titles of the cards is set:

# One of Six - The Rookie 

# Two of Six - Sophmore Stardom 

# Three of Six - Superstar 

# Four of Six - AL MVP 

# Five of Six - Back to Back

# Six of Six - The Big Hurt

Looking at my pics you see the Season 2 and Season Five are side by side face up then I turned them over and the backs are the same!! Both have the "5 of 6" on the Front Picture but the lower right corner on the front states "Five" on one and "Two" on the other. This is either an error or it's a magic trick right? I cannot find an article discussing this anywhere at all. It's as off the lower right corner having the "Two" on it is perfectly printed and shows no blues or other isuues. I know the pics are dark bit these cards reflect so much light I had to darken the room. The thing is that along with the obvious issue of 1 having the "Five" on its front lower right corner and back top left card numbering is the one that matches this databases pics. The other with the "Two" on Front lower right has the identical picture as the from of the #5 card and the back as well, the only issue is that the 1 with the "Two" on the Front was not stamped or produced correctly right?

Anyone that has info I appreciate it ahead of time and thank you for replying. 2 errors in 2 weeks on cards that are inserts is very odd right? Other was the Action Packed Mark Rypien ERR w/o any foil on front or back and now this. If this is a isolated quality control mistake at the Leaf company for letting it out then it's either rare or not mentioned of yet as I cannot find another on web.

Could be rare, but it's simply mis-foiled.

Thanks.. I may contact PSA, Beckett or Leaf to see if its even documemted. The checklists here usually have errors listed bit not this one. I've looked at them over the last 22 yrs and never noticed it lol. But it's the #5 picture on Front and Back too, but that "Two" on the Front lower right is there and solid. This is, as 98% of my 60K plus cards are, opened by me at a shop, sleeved and toploader but these I had in Mini Snaps and was changing them to the newer styles and noticed it. If it's a printing error of Frank Thomas that's in a SP or Chase Set it would command a great value I would assume. I'm not selling, never have, but I need to know what the population could be. It being an insert you would think it would be far less likely that it would have an error. Thanks for the quick reply and have a blessed weekend!!

If it is a foil error, then there should at least be one sheet worth of that card with "two" on it instead of "five". I don't know how many cards Leaf printed per sheet though.

Misapplied foil is the second most common production error. Most people don't care, some even throw them away. They aren't listed here because it's simply a production error. Not a real variation. 

It's not fouled right bit it's on there as printed or applied. For a Thomas, Whitesox or Error Oddball collector it could be a GEM... I've never sold 1 card in my life though. I have over 60K that are all Hobby Type and been stored in climate controlled, sleeved, toploaders on some and semi rigors as well as no pets or smoking. They are my "Collecting Virgin Item" bcz I'm a 4th generation collector of stamps and coims for the most along with historical items...

I looked at the link and it's the correct card but the oje i have in the pics avove is the same on the front (#2 & #5) but the word "Two" in lower right portion is on the #5 cards front side with the same picture as well. It's like they numbered some 5's on back the right way and fronts were mixed or misprint. I haven't found another with the back and front being the same pics and details with the same front with only issue wrong is the "two" word on it. Thanks for that link too. I'm starting to enjoy this group here at the Database...... You see what I mean right? The cards in my pics are 2 different cards side by side etc....

bamaman - What I see in the pics you posted are two of the same card. Front and back are identical - with only one difference - foil stamping in the bottom right on the front. You have 2 card #5s and no card #2.

Am I missing something?

varoomed - Yes! You got it. I have 2 of the #5 of 6 cards but 1 has the "two" on the lower front right corner. It's not suppose to to have a "two." I can't find another anywhere that has this mistake or error. COMC has the #2 card with correct pics on their site to see that Thomas is in a different stance or action shot on all 6 cards front and back. So I have a #5 with a "two" indicator on the Front this making it an error as far as I can see and not being able to Google any pic of another might mean only a sheet got out of production or less right? I've had these for 20 yrs hard to believe but they have been in snap tites the whole time from the pack and I missed that until recently. Make sense? Anyone ever seen one like that?
