Who are you to tell another how to use this site? So what if someone just wants to use it as a place to track their cards and doesn't want to contribute. Who's to say they won't change their mind later after being on here for a period of time?
And seriously, even just using the F to cover for profanity in your reply is uncalled for. With references to shady and the tone of your post, do you really expect a reply? I would be staying far away from doing so if that reply was directed at me.

Seriously, what is the problem here? You joined the site to catalogue your cards. I would assume you wanted to help the site too. Obviously that assumption was wrong. You even BLANKED your avatar! That's just shady and what the hell happened to make you so dis-enchanted with the site that you decided that you need to be a ghost?!!!
I honestly want to know.

I will not be turning on messages. I used to get way too many messages from folks wanting to buy or trade my cards. I'll just not post any replys to messages warranting a response. I'll be clearer if I decide to submit any more inaccuracy reports.
Agreed, I don't even know how mine is listed, I assume public as I do get trade offers.

hphillips has over 142,000 points in a little over two years on the site. He contributes an amazing amount. For now, there is no requirement to contribute. He wants to stay private, he has every right to do so.
I hope we don’t lose a valuable member because others feel that they have some right to greater access to him. Which they don’t.
That's the wonderful thing about an open site like TCDB. You can be anything you want to be here. Contribute as much or as little as you want. This site is many different things for many different people. No member has the right or power to tell any other member what they can or cannot collect or what they can or cannot contribute as long as everything is done with adherance to the website's listed rules. Everyone's experience here is different. Our differences here should be celebrated not denegrated.

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB.
I try to behave better on this site than I do others, so not touching on the topic. But for the offers on my collection, I was getting them all the time, and that really bugged me. While it is true, nearly everything has a price point sometimes it does hurt to ask. Don't offer me half what something is worth that I don't wish to sell. So I made mine private, and no more offers since.

I really didn't start this thread for anything more than as a means of communicating with a member who has his messaging blocked. He had sent a message to me that warranted a reply, but no means of doing so privately. I attempted to reach out to him, especially since it appears as though I did not take the action he thought was appropriate. It wasn't a slam on how he wishes to conduct business on here or how he wishes to participate. In fact, just the opposite. Anyway, please be civil. My dealings with hphillips has always been cordial, and I see that he has forgiven my misdeeds towards his IRs. :) I think this is now a sleeping dog.

Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 3/4/2024). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned on (details are in my profile).
Posts like this are the exact reason I no longer communicate on this website via messages or forums.
I wasn't aware that in addition to all the checklists, scans, team/name verifications, birth dates, set pictures, cropping, money I donated to sponsor player pages in the past, and ir's, that I have provided for this site that I was being selfish by not wanting to trade/sell on here with my personal collection or message. I did not know that messaging or trading was a requirement and if so, I'm happy to leave. I even spent the past week fixing all the bad scans I posted for the 2015-16 prizm set and reporting the ones I could not fix. Like I said, I'll be sure to be more accurate in the inaccuracy reports.
Even after making my collection private, members on here would contact me saying, "I notice you have contributed (insert player) cards on here, if you have it, can I buy it (or trade)?" It happened enough that I had to turn off messages. I don't know how to make that any clearer and hopefully this answers your question.
BTW, special thanks to vroomed for all the work they do repairing my and others mistakes in the inaccuracy reports :)

Oh, now I understand why you were stilling getting messages. Yeah, I've had that happen once or twice. I thought maybe there was a glitch and members were still seeing your hidden Collection/Trade/Wantlists.
Believe me (us), the vast, vast majority of members have no problem with the way you set your Profile and do business. If you left us though, your contributions would be missed.
Maybe Admin could set up a Messaging option to only accept messages from Friends. Then it would give those users who wish more control to limit who they get messages from.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
Hello, I noticed you uploaded a checklist for 1995 German Magic Sport ID cards. I have compiled a good amount of the checklist. Here is what I have.........
