Sorry folks, but I just lost one of my new Test Boosting Nugenix Contacts so I won’t be able to read or respond to any of the negative press about our products until a replacement lens is discretely delivered to my mailbox sometime in the next four to six weeks.

One step closer and the eyeball gets it.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Due to my upcoming trip later today to Nova Scotia for the weekend activities, including being in the teeth of the powerful remnants of hurricane Dorian due to pay a visit to the Maritimes during the Saturday afternoon and evening this one has to wrap up a little early. With that being said C2Cigars entry last night wins the coveted award with "One step closer and the eyeball gets it." Week #27 starts in a moment.

Stay safe up there in NS. Dorian was a beast here in NC. Lucky for me and those around me, it stayed just far enough off the coast to not damage anything in central NC. I just hope my family along the coast fared well through the storm. I haven't heard anything yet, but power is still out for most of northeastern NC, especially the Outer Banks. I hope to hear something soon from them.

My relatives in Virginia Beach said it wasn't that bad there. One of my old coworkers in Moyock said she was getting hit pretty good, but it wasn't as bad as some past hurricanes in that area.
As you can see from my screen name, I am always hoping for anybody in my old stomping grounds of the Outer Banks to pull through unharmed.

You know I lived in that area for quite a bit of my life and am one of those people that would not have left. As I said the people I talked to today back there were all ok, but looking at the pictures and videos of Ocracoke Island this is not good. I am used to seeing pictures of Route 12 under water or completely washed away, I am not used to seeing an entire island under water.

I heard that NC12 on Hatteras Island didn't get washed out this time and only had some sand on it. Even the dunes stayed intact after the 101MPH winds there. Ocracoke Island was a different situation. What I saw on the local news about the Ocracoke Harbor Inn was pretty bad though! If the NC Coast Guard had to go in there to rescue people by boat and helicopter, that's really bad! Even though all news is reporting that Cape Hattaras got the landfall, Ocracoke Island took a really serious blow. And it got worse when the storm passed and started blowing the Pamlico Sound into the westside of the island. I really hope everyone who stayed on Ocracoke, Hatteras and Pea Island survived the storm. Ocrcoke Island basically got the same blast as the northern Bahama Islands without anywhere near the wind speeds!
I have never lived there, but I know the OBX like I know my bed. I've spent a lot of time there in my life. A bunch of my family lives in Hyde County, but on the mainland instead of Ocracoke Island. Plus, I was watching the whole thing on obxconnection.com. At least until the power went out for all the webcams. I always check there whenever a storm threatens the coast. All the OBX cams are still down, but the Surfchex cams for the southern beaches are working again.
I was checking all the coastal webcams again when I got home from work tonight. Nothing operating on the OBX, but the southern beach piers had people fishing from them at midnight and 1am. I don't mean a couple of people either. Surf City Pier had over 30 people fishing at 1am!!!

Home again safe and sound. Yesterday was an adventure to say the least. Where I was in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia was "spared" the worst of the storm (we didn't lose any power even though communities 30 minutes north and south of there did.) as further up the coast Halifax and area took a bit of a hit with something like 400,000 w/o power and possibly out for three days. Our son just bought a house in that area last month, and will probably only have power restored late tomorrow night. A lot of wind and a lot of rain but the most amazing aspect of this (and these types of storms/systems in general) is that while we were getting pummeled there in Nova Scotia, my home back in northern New Brunswick (some 300+ miles away) was experiencing the same effects from the very same storm. Hard to fathom the enormous size of these beasts.

Glad you got through it okay. Did you mean 300+ miles or kilometers? Knowing the length of NC at it's widest, I know I'm not 300 miles from the coast (north or south beaches). But it didn't get here at all besides a bit of a breeze for 2 days. I think the highest gust here was about 25mph (15kmph). But at work about 16 miles away (less than 10km), the gusts were around 40mph (24kmph). I'm glad it wasn't worse here, but it looks like there's another issue just coming off Africa's coast that might be a hurricane in this area in 2 weeks.
And yes, I am an American that understands the metric system and how to convert it to or from "standard" measurements.

After I posted that I thought to myself... that's 500 km (300 miles) travelling distance but very obviously not "as the crow flies" and misleading as to the "size" of Dorian.... big nonetheless I spotted a couple of "boo-boo's" (well 3 actually ) above . I believe you have your #'s reversed as 25mph is actually 40kmph , 40mph is 60kmph, and 16 miles is really closer to 26 km... Ooops! Kidding aside though thanks for the well-wishes.!
