Stay safe Jim! I've always thought the annual Cali fires were over-blown media hype b/c it happens every single year. But what AUS is going through this year is almost unimaginable. That is devastation unlike the US has ever known!!! Even other countries are shocked by what is happening in Australia.

Upstate is having record highs. Had to break out the shorts and Ts. Went from 9° on Thursday to high 60s yesterday. But Friday morning's sunrise was beautiful, glistening off the ice covered trees, and giving us this (the picture doesn't do it justice):

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

He's blue because he has switched from cheering for the losing Oilers to the winning Leafs! Go Darrell and the Leafs!!!!

Jim, where are you at? I’ve been fighting fires just to the south of Sydney. I’m always happy to try and meet a fellow hobbyist if you have the chance while you’re down under.

See why I'm here!! The town centre punching bag!! Hahahahah love it Chuck. Now I know what I'd look like as a Smurf!! Yeah its crazy cold here ......... wind makes it worse. I got cabin fever lol. Starting taxes this week that should wearm me up with ANGER!!
Jim are you there to live or just working then leaving. I have been to three of four coasts in AUS. Brisbane several times as my friends live there. Devastating for sure. Everyone has an opinion and a plan yet every year something somewhere burns. Sad but true. And MN is a lady who will not be stopped.

What Australia is going through is what this country haver never experienced before. I wish the best for Australia. You are right that the media coverage of most California fires is over-blown. The fires two years were bad. The city of Paradise in Northern California was almost completely destroyed with over 70 deaths. I had a family friend that her house in this. While this was going around there was a fire in Southern California. The range of the fire was from Simi Valley to Malibu. I had several coworkers, and relatives that were evaluated. I had a coworker that lost her home. On the day this fire started a fire broke out 20 minutes from me. Littlet acreage was lost with minor property lost. This is typical of most California fires.
I hope that every one is safe in Australia. I like your picture ranfordfan. I hope that you didn't freeze.

New Jersey in January. Sitting outside working on my tan. 68 here. Down deep though I am hoping for a blizzard and a good freeze. It's been too warm this winter.

I'm up in Brisbane right now until the 23rd. I'll be transiting back through Sydney on the way home so maybe an airport meet can happen.

Tired and trembling I am descending, will I have to stay here and live this life again?

I'm down here for work and leave in a couple weeks. It would be so easy to just stay here as I love this city. Work brings me here semi-annually but first time I've been here smack in the middle of summer; usually here in Spring or Fall.
MN indeed has a plan and she is not stopping right now.
