Oh, how I loved Bob Gibson. Still one of my top four favorite pitchers -- Maddux, Lee Smith, Ryan, and Gibson. Thank you for posting this. Was that Harry Caray announcing the 1968 World Series? Sounded like him. I'll have to check.... Checked. I have a good ear.

Well this was anticlimatic. I'm happy to hear the Red Sox were no where near the level of the Astros, and I'm especially glad I won't have to hear insincere apologies from the players and staff or insinuations that their 2018 title is tainted.
I am surprised the team hasn't fired Watkins yet. He was the main culprit behind the Apple Watch incident, and now this. Dude just keeps trying to push the limits of what is legal, and has gotten caught twice now.
MLB really needs to take a deep look what role technology is going to play in games and how that technology is used and abused. It seems odd that video can be used to decode pitchers' signs before and after a game, and it's legal to try and decode signs during a game, but not legal to use video during the game in this regard.
I'm glad this is fianlly done and over with, and now all that's left is to fight this pandemic so we have have baseball back again.

When I read the story this morning, my feelings were (again - just like in the steroids investigation where shockingly no Red Sox players were found guilty, only those who had left with bitterness) that the Red Sox were given leniency just because who they are (like the Yankees often are) and the big media / fan base. If you are caught stealing, does it matter if it is $1M or $10M? Should have been harder fines to the team and more suspensions to the leadership, just as was imposed on the Astros.

MLB swept this under the rug as they usually do for the Yankees and Red Sox. I love the Red Sox response that it wasn't as bad as the Astros, like some how levels of cheating are justifiable. Astros, Yankees and Red Sox all cheated. MLB fix the problem and let's play baseball.

I think the punishment should have been stronger than it was since it was a second offense for same team.

No surprise. Same thing happens for the Patriots. Caught cheating...slap on the wrist. Even drug suspensions aren't the same. Look at Josh Gordon. He had repeated drug policy violations and received multiple penalties including indefinite suspensions that lasted over a year when he was in Cleveland. He goes to NE, violates the policy AGAIN, and gets the weakest penalty of his career (only a 2 game suspension). The only difference was what team he was playing for.

mkb - exactly what is patheitc? The way MLB handled this or the last 4 members' comments who agree that the Red Sox get favoritism?

The way the MLB handled this. I feel like there is definitely some at least some leniency going on because they're the Red Sox. They should have been punished harder.
Sorry I wasn't clear enough

Thanks for the explanation. Thought you were a Red Sox (or Boston sports) fan.
I also agree the Patriots have been favoured for the lack of disciplinary measures against them. Yankees were very much so when Steinbrenner (the big guy) was around. I remember when Steve Howe was with the Yankees in the early 1990s. He was suspended then reinstated for drug abuse several times. Had he been with any less publicized teams, he would have been banned after the second offense.
