For the love of god, or whom ever you want to believe or not believe in, please, please, stop using MASKING TAPE to send cards....sorry to sound like the 'get off my lawn' dude, but painters tape is RIGHT there next to it at the store, SO much more use friendly, it doesn't take much more effort to get the blue 🤬 tape 😂 peace and love 😎✌🏻

Personally, I have no problem with masking tape. It's Scotch tape that grinds my gears. But to each their own
[I will also calrify that I mean tape on a sleeve/holder that contains a card. I like to put cards into a top loader or semi-rigid and then tape it to a piece of thin cardboard before putting the whole thing into an envelope. I'm not putting ANY sort of tape directly onto a card]

Yeah, I'm also cool with masking tape on cards. People that use scotch and packaging tape on cards can gtfo, but masking isn't too bad. Painter's tape is still number one though.

Agreed 100%. No masking tape and less tape in general..... and no to scotch tape on top loaders.

It's that 2 x 4 block of bubble wrap, taped up like a mummy I really hate....
Don't see why someone would do that (for 6 or 8 cards), then pop it in a
bubble envelope.....

Okay, so I am old and out of the loop....why are we using ANY kind of tape on cards at all? Once I understand the reason, I know now that I will want to use my painters tape I have instead of most any other kind. That much is clear. But, currently I have never had or used tape on my cards and nor have I received any cards with tape on them. One time I received 2 cards in hard holders and the holders were taped with masking tape, and the glue from the tape pretty much screwed up the holders. Yeah yeah yeah, I got it off but it was more work than I think I wanted to deal with really. Knowing that just not using tape would have prevented any of that, is what leads me to finally ask the question about what it is used for. It's a serious question as I am truly unaware.
Thanks-

The OP is referring to the tape used to "secure" whatever else the cards are "protected" by during shipping. So, whether on a top-loader, edges of 9-pocket, or to secure the cardboard "sandwich", he highly prefers painter's tape over masking tape.
Spot on... no tape ON CARDS, ever... please.

I very seldom use tape I use stickers with the tracking number on the in a team or graded bag. As far as I can recollect nobody complained about my shipping or to me about it.
I also do not like packaging tape or scotch tape but I look over it and go on as long as it doesn't damage the cards. But sometimes I feel like a doctor with a scalpel and tweezers to free the card from it coffin. But that scenario is few and far between trades

Scotch tape on the cardboard sandwich doesn't bother me . It's when it's on the toploaders / card savers / whatever the cards are in that it becomes an issue .
