Well, I decided to place some bids today & got a pop-up from ebay forcing me to choose a payment method that they will "automatically" process on my behalf, when the auction ends. I guess this is the final nail in the coffin for "Request Total" - which rarely worked before. Ebay will now be collecting full postage on every item & likely leaving it up to the honest sellers (like me) to refund any overcharges on multiple wins. Since ebay gets a percentage of postage costs too, it's not surprising. Unscrupulous sellers will just blame ebay for the extra cost, or probably increase their postage to squeeze even more profit for their items. *sigh*

Hmm, is this their solution of curbing non-paying bidders/winners by guaranteeing available funds?
I can hardly wait for the final nail into an ebay coffin, their formula is old, tired and (despite recent changes) over-fee'd.
They should have been begging and more accommodating towards those whom put their items for sale there(after all it is who butters their bread)
You(ebay) didn't want my potential millions of listings? ,tried to baby step me with your limits?
How you like my site? Unlimited listings for 40$ a month + SSL and domain. But their traffic yeah i know hard to top but you can't be seriously dictating to me how many items and how many $ I can sell 25 years and too much time and money spent.
RANT OVER for now

Not just eBay that get a cut of shipping costs. A couple years ago when states were allowed to tax internet purchases CT was the 2nd state (shocking!) to jump on that. They tax not just the purchase prices, but the added shipping cost as well. Even if I get a refund on shipping I only get it on shipping, the tax doesn't get adjusted down as well.

I got this the other day when making an offer.
There was another instance since then where the seller made me an offer (which I was willing to accept), went looking at their other items, found something, made an offer on that, and accepted their offer, and it was combined when I "checked out". I don't know how ebay is doing this. Worked okay for me.

Another thing I ran into recently was on Second Chance offers. Won a few cards from a seller and then got Second Chances. For each card I accepted eBay forced me to purchase each individually, with full shipping, instead of the old option in adding it to the cart. Great seller, refunded all the excess shipping charges.

I sell mostly war game miniatures, when someone msgs for several items.....
I remove one listing, combine it into the other and set a single price and shipping....
Yes, a refund on shipping gets the seller some of the fees back also...
Don't know if the buyer gets any of their taxes back....
I do think it's crap that ebay charges a fee on the shipping...
Ebay started that, because items were being listed at low prices (they charged a listing fee based on pricing then) and sellers charged outrageous shipping fees (before USPS got out of hand).....
I took a break from ebay for about 10 years (buying) and even longer selling so didn't see the changes made over that period...

I don't buy much on ebay anymore. Because of this, I might be done with ebay, period. I don't know. USPS postage is getting ridiculous!

I just finished placing a bunch of bids with different sellers. No problems, no "pop-ups", same as always. Maybe it's the seller's settings.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

In my experience with Ebay it's the seller settings that would be causing this. They have the option of setting up for "instant payment", which is likely causing the issue. The cart also has issues with combining properly, which is also a seller settings problem - some sellers I have no issues with at all and others it just won't work.

I only got the message to enter the info for a BIN / Best Offer listing when I went to make an offer (if accepted, it would automatically make the payment).
