Russ Francis was killed of a air crash along with Richard McSpadden. Francis was 70. They were flying a Cessna 177 out of Lake Placid Airport when the aircraft "experienced an emergency after takeoff." The aircraft attempted to return to the airport, but crashed in a ravine near the airport.

He played for the Patriots and the 49ers, and Howard Cosell calls him "All World."
