for the time being until we get answer to this, i'm going to just finish up without (A) for the base cards, but not verify the checklist , or go back and change any that already have (A) listed.... no sense in makiing double work.

My however is unfounded. I just tested it with a mini checklist where some of the cards were "a"s and some were not even variants, and as long as the "a" is in the extra field, we're good. Thanks!

and as long as the "a" is in the extra field, we're good.
But does it mean the parallel set must have 'a' as well? I could see a base set that has variants that don't carry over to the parallel set. Staying with 2014 Topps.
The base set, as mentioned, has variants [b] through [e]
The Black parallel has only the base card
If this were a new set checklist being entered, could the base 1[a] be copied seamlessly into the black 1? Or does the system not see the two as comparable?

No "a' needed in the parallel set.

If a NOTE2 of "BASE:" isn't present, the box to enter the "a" into is not available.

it looks like have to add the note2 in order to get the box for (A), but then it shows up when you click the link to show err/var , but if you then remove the Note2 , it doesnt change the card number (A), but then it wont show up as err/var when you click that link....which way is correct? do we leave it with the Note2 and let it appear as err/var , or remove Note2 after adding (A)?
i only did the few from 351 to 400, and only changed 351 with adding then removing Note2...

Why wouldn't you leave Note2 as is?
Not understanding why you're removing that info.

I just want to make certain of the correct way of doing them before I make a mess of things by just assuming... the only one I removed the note2 from was 351 just to show the difference ...
