2004 Topps Baseball Forum

I just received 2004  Topps #249, Jose Cruz Jr. this set was after I stopped collecting so this is my first card in that set. The scans in the database shows the color of the team name, the player name and a few other spots on the front as black. The card I have in hand has it as a reflective silver. Searching for parallels, etc, shows nothing that fits this. Does anyone have any information or could this just be the scanning reflective surfaces changing the color? Thanks!

IMO it is just a scanner effect. It is an old scan anyways (can't zoom)

SIlver foil often shows as black in scans.  I haven't found a consistently effective way to correct for that problem.

Aha, I was just going through the same dilemma with #653, Brewers team card.  It *sure* looks back in the scan, but silver in my hand.  I guess I'll have to chalk it up to the scanner effect!  I did snap a phone pic, and in that you can tell it's silver and not black.  Oh well.
