2007 Ultra Baseball Forum

I'm sitting here with a nearly full set of 2007 Ultra and while I'm almst certain there's a mix of hobby and retail cards, every time I start going through them to pull the retail ones out I always get confused and give up. I don't know who seriously thought it would be a good idea to have "different" variations based on thin pieces of foil on cards. Does anybody know of another way to tell these cards apart? This is maddening. Thank goodness this is the last year Upper Deck made this set.

I too get confused and frustrated with stupid subtle variants that are difficult to tell apart. With these apparently it is all about the foil on the player's name and the Ultra logo. Retail is supposedly silver and hobby is holofoil. I guess that means the hobby version should appear to have different colors depending on how the light is reflected?

Looks like people refilled some of the base (Hobby) front image spots with Retail images. sigh

I just added a Release Note (pending Admin approval) about the base set being the Hobby Holofoil version. Already added a few IRs for approval to remove front images.

Just went through the first 100 cards and had to submit IRs on 58 of them. grrr

Don't judge them too harshly. I am at a loss as to how to tell them apart. I look at a card and think it's solid silver but then it seems to refract in the light. I look at a card that looks like holofoil and when I tilt it it looks like solid silver. I give up.

Really need that release note approved so people don't refill those spots with the same images. Also need image croppers/approvers to be aware of what's being submitted. It would help us a ton if someone with the Hobby cards could scan and fill those spots.
