2021 Stadium Club Baseball Forum

I always thought about a daily reminder.  A pop-up window that would open the first time you log in each day, or pop-up if you're logged in when the day changes.  Each day a reminder about various hot topics/issues.  

And yes, some topics are repeated ad nauseam because many do not read nor search the forums.

AND THIS IS one of the reasons I don't ATTEMPT to add checklists. At least I don't think I will ever attempt a MAJOR RELEASE.

I would not try any of the new issues.  I can handle the old issues where there were no SP or SSP or VAR with stars or whatever.

I would suggest you are the one treating other members with disrespect.  You uploaded a checklist without any real research into what was needed. Just a little research would have shown that(like most major releases now) there are numerous variations that also need to be included in the checklist but you "needed" to add your cards.  Now there are numerous variations that will need to be added and there are going to be many members looking to add their cards(Variations) that are not yet listed and probably many of them will end up adding them to what they find on the checklist. So collections will end up being inaccurate.

A recurring theme: Take a little time and do some research so the checklist can beavailable to all with correct info.  Don't just throw something together because you need your cards added.  Do it right the first time.  A lot less work in the long run and a more accurate site which is what I hope everyone should want

There are certain things that take time to learn. I have been some of the football checklist (I still hate you Leaf metal draft) & I started with the offbrand ones like Onyx Vintage Football & leaf. Major releases are hard & I have messed as well (2021 SCORE Football) and got my advice from older members as I am new. The best thing to do for new members who want to get into checkist is try to start with insert sets or non major releases. That way it helps you learn what to look for and make minor mistakes without much drawback, like in this case and when 2021 Heritage Baseball checklist dropped. Sometimes the research sucks but it's worth it in the end (Like looking up every 2021 Prizm DP Football Autograph on eBay for the correct card numbers). This advice is from a rookie so take it as it seems fit.

I think I am with you now.  I feel like it shouldnt be this way, but I guess it is.

Frusration gets to all of us.  (From I'm just trying to help to why can it not be done right the frist time around)

Please do not take things personally.   Most members are just pointing out things. Yes there has been a few jerks here and may still be.   We all are trying to do our best and inprove the site.   We all make mistakes and reply at time when we not understanding or misunderstanding all of what is invovled.   Do not give up after the frist issue.   Who know what you can do for the site in the long run.

A lot of thing and ideals have been done and doing to help the site out.   Checklists have come up a lot of times.    Maybe Dan ideals about the Mentors  may help inprove some of the issues.

Yes I'm still working on a few check lists so I can add them.   

As one of the members that likes to help out with some of the IRs that are reported, the incomplete/wrong checklists are a pain.  The time it takes to fix one could be used to work on something else.  The new releases are known to have variants.  Not just one release either, most of them have some sort of variant that should be captured up front.  Throw in the inconsistant numbering, and the time used to research something on the front end, saves me a ton of time on the back end.

This is a FANTASTIC site!!  It has the flexibility for a member to collect anything and collect in multiple ways.  It has a ton of great features that are are getting better by the day.  Anyone can help and lead in a lot of different ways.  But, I can only help if I know there is somewhere that I can be of assistance.  Preparing New Release checklists has been a very big problem and can only be resolved together.  

I can understand that you are discouraged.  The membership can get stronger by members wanting to help, but in reality, asking for help may be more valuable.  My inbox is always open and mulitple members have reached out to me to ask questions.  They range from having a quick clarification to some major training.  If in the end, you still feel like not helping, this is also fine.  This helps too.  Adding bad checklists to the site is not a help, especially if it is something that is known to be a bad checklist.    This whole situation could have been avoided.

Dan mentions that he could have handled it better, but the message remains the same.  I share Dan's frustration.  These bad checklists have to stop.  Getting upset with someone pointing it out is not helpful.  We have incomplete checklists, bad scans or horrible photos, and a lot of other things that are happening because of members that are not willing to ask questions.  Then, get upset when it is pointed out.  I would put myself into other's shoes and realize that this was a mistake.  Then, try to figure out a way that I can to help fix what I just screwed up.  I do not blame someone that has to fix my mess.  It is time that some people realize that.  It is unfair to target members that have to fix mistakes just because you get your feelings hurt.

Perfectly said Brian.  Yep Dan sometimes may come off harsh. I married an East coast girl so I know all about that attitude.  I message Dan 2 or 3 times a week to ask how to or if I should or what do you think of this and I am a Level 8. He's never not answered or provided guidance. He's always detailed, accurate and very helpful.  He and a few others do 75% of the cleanup of the mistakes "WE" make either through ignorance, impatience or just disregard for what's best for the site in favor of our own collections. I get so pissed at myself any time I get a message saying a scan was wrong or removed, or a checklist was not right because I want to do it perfect and take the time to learn because I love this site and collectiong. I like doing checklists and have done quite a bit. I would never attempt a major release because as I collector I know about the VAR's.  So if he comes off short with someone I'm much more inclined to cut him a break because without those handful of L-8's this site would surely suffer.  Just my 2 cents. 

With this persitant issue we need to update the adding a checklist area to a working area where if you find something you can add it to the working area and the checklist is built with everyones help, not just one person doing it all then uploading it.
