Holy smokes. The lid got blown off this thing, and that was not my intention. So I'm going to make a lengthy post here, and then I'm going to shut up about it, because I believe that all of us, or at least most of us are probably tired of going in circles, one way or another.
Item #1 - the card itself. I posted the question because after the last discussion, I became aware of the "exceptions" made by Admin. In order to get some clarification on that, I thought this would be a good one to ask on - obviously, it seems to be an exception to site guidelines, but I was hoping to get clear public confirmation on that. Part of the reason I post questions on forums is so that the information is out there for others to use as well.
Item #2 - my poor example of using damanged 2001 Topps Ichiro cards. The point I was trying to make was that we don't know if a card was damaged, intentionally mis-printed, or mistakenly mis-printed. In an era of cards that are famous for sticking together, it's hard to say what definitively happened without knowing for sure. If the logic exercised here is good enough to determine that it was missed, and then corrected, that's fine. But if you want 100% certainty...good luck. That was my point, which was presented awfully.
Issue #3 - inclusion of errors/variations/printing/whatevers. These don't matter to me. They aren't part of my collection. I understand that for some, they are a very integral part of their collection, and that's great. No one should ever be met with hostility, indifference, or any other negatory reaction towards their collection. However, there has to be a line drawn somewhere. To try and physically include every ink smudge, ink fade, weak foil edge, whatever the case may be, well, it just won't happen. You couldn't do it. You could try and get as close as possible, but when you keep adding card after card and all of the sudden there are 264 variations of 1984 Topps card #337, is that really doing this website and hobby a justice?
Issue #4 - this piggy-backs off of #3. Please note, I am not specifically pointing fingers at anyone here. Not a single person in particular. Rather, I feel this applies to everyone. Because there has to be some sort of limit, set by the Admin of the site (Admin), there will always be people who are unhappy. I would love to catalog the pocket schedule collection I've been building since 2007 on here. Admin said no, with some exceptions, so I must comply. If you feel that you can truly not live without documenting every single thing in your collection without some issues, this may not be the site for you. Admin has provided some work-arounds, as Bob has started discovering in another forum thread (adding your own image to your collection, as well as others). We won't all be happy all of the time (there is no way in the world 8x10 team photos should be considered trading cards, in my humble opinion, but they're here) and it can be frustrating. But unfortunately that's how it goes. The good news is that Admin is very receptive to ideas and constantly evolving this site to suit as many people as possible, so the "boundaries" of inclusion can always change as time goes on!
Issue #5 - last one, I promise. I am in agreement that the site guidelines and rules should be easier to access. If we could find a way to a) make a nice, comprehensive list/document regarding numbering, checklists, names, teams, etc. like some members did with notes (right now, it seems like those who message Admin have a knowledge of a certain way that they want things done, which is great, but until confusion is cleared up and those guidelines are public knowledge [I'm referring to things like the naming of League Leader cards from Topps] we will continue to have problems) and b) a way to distribute those, or make them very visible and easy to find for members, things would be a little bit better for us. The only suggestion I can think of right now is perhaps a monthly newsletter with those links in the email? I'm sure someone can come up with a better suggestion. We have so many new members joining us so frequently, and many are eager to contribute, that having that information easily accessible may be very beneficial.
Okay. Rant is over. I'm leaving my card in question in the box and catalogued as is. My speech is over and I'd be happy to answer any questions about stuff that I've mentioned here via message, but let's try not to bury any more threads rehashing arguments. If you've read this far, kudos.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.
