I am not able to locate this 1996 ProLine Emmitt Smith #40 card with a foil stamp in the database. The back of the card is the same as the base set card. I've looked through parallel sets and inserts as well. Any guidance is appreciated!

This might be a variant card to the base set.

Interesting. 1996 set was released in July 1996 and he didn't surpass 10,000 yards until late in the 1996 season. That foil would have had to been applied after the set was released. I can't see it being inserted in packs. Maybe made up and given out after the season during Super Bowl or Pro Bowl events?

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Considering the era, definitely wouldn't be surprised if it's an aftermarket stamp. Either someone at home or a dealer to commemorate the event.

That was my second thought; with the simplistic lettering.

Is it possible this is sort of like the Topps Buy Back program where they added the stamp to an older card later. After Emmitt hit the 10,000 yard mark, maybe Score Board added the stamp and started releasing the card in 1997 or later.

As an aftermarket stamp it won't be listed here, so it's not a "variation" or anything, but it's certainly an interesting mystery.

COMC has it too, along with the various parallels, 1996 National, etc. Beckett doesn't appear to have it or mention it. Possibly issued late in the production run?

Doubtful, set was released in July. By November production of the set would have long ceased. But adding the stamp to any cards they still had on hand to use for shows is feasible.
