Please add this Mickey mantle error to your tcdb data base, I would even pay someone to help get it done๐๐……and thanks!

It's not an error. It's a printing glitch.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Yep, what's usually required to get something listed as a variation is that something was noticed like an error and the printing plates had to be re-done, and then more than one version was packed out. In this case the card just missed some ink during the printing process. https://www.tcdb.com/FAQ.cfm?ITEM=PrintingErrors

Which is probably the main reason why it got a "5".

Issue with the black ink. Per Admin's rules, not listable here.

It’s a reoccurring “variation” call it what ever you want it’s reoccurring all the copies are identical and there’s 7 other 1958s touching mantle on the sheet this happened to but I would love to get mantle in tcdb…I’d even pay
inwould say it fits the definition of a error since topps noticed the glitch and had to swap plates…..you can tell this was fixed by adding a new play since each copy is identical, unlike herrer-a that all having different amounts of a, herrer-a was likely not fixed by swapping plates just something temporarily stuck on the plate and fixed itself

This psa 3 sold for a huge premium because of the “error/variation/defect” on back I mean come on it’s rare Mickey mantle and a giant chunk of the paragraph is missing each copy is identical….each auction on eBay sells for ALOT more than the corrected back

That doesn't indicate that Topps created a new plate. It's more likely that some debris got stuck to the plate and blocked ink from being applied to the card. You'll see repeated defects like this reasonably often depending how long it takes the printers to catch something like this, but it still doesn't qualify as the definition of a variation on the site, just a printing glitch.

If something was stuck to the plate each one would be a little bit different, these are all identical, I could list 10 cards off the top of my head that tcdb lists as variations that don’t fit your definition from the 1950s….though this one does since Topps had to stop production to change mantle back plate

Are you tedwilliams1918 from net54baseball and Ted Williams from YouTube? A google search shows that’s the only person talking about it.
